Hi Lucky. a buddy of mine is doing one now, having to make new rods (lots of $$), but he has the in-line 8 cyl (vertical 8).

what's the head configuration of the 6-cyl? overhead or OHC?

Dave I don't know I'll have to ask him. I think they are OHC. I am positive both his motors are complete though

The Stutz that I rebuilt 20 tears ago had Babbit rods...no inserts...had to be repoured...you will probably need to find someone that can do that..Maybe Egge Mach in Calif 866-524-EGGE.....www.egge.com

Egge is good to buy many many things frm but listen pistons, babbit are not items you want to get from them.

They are very nice people very helpful but somethngs are just beyond them. 'll do some digging and PM you.

I replaced my Mercer with this..... BIG MISTAKE! Dispite being much newer, all wheel brake, and just plain nasty. This is as good as Stutz's get and it was no match for the Mercer. :)

I'm surprised you use the word "nasty"?! I always thought that these Stutz' looked to be really "tasty" cars!

What was so wrong with it

ps I'd probably prefer the Mercer too though ;) !

My Stutz was an AA with a BB motor,Jag pistons, Corrello rods, UUR2, 12 volt, Petronix, Hot Cam, Wide ratio trans gears, High speed diff. There were H4 bulds in the headlamps. A real rad behind 1/4" of honeycomb. It had Bendix brakes with two masters I could adjust under the dash.

And with all that it was a total piece of ****. I spent a year or more trying to get it to do anything right........ It was a truck to drive and inspite of all the things done didn't go, stop, or steer 13 years newer than the Mercer.

Oh yes by all means put a blower on it! ARE YOU KIDDING?

I have owned, driven, raced too many cars to list here the Stutz stands out as perhaps the Yugo of cl***ic cars!

No more on Stutz from me! It was, and they are, a total waste of money and my time.

There are guys that absolutely swear by Stutz and they have a strong following. Perhaps this particular car is just jinxed? It certainly looks good. With the single overhead cam there is only so much horsepower you can squeeze out of the engine before the breathing problems stop the improvement. I'm hoping for around 185hp from my engine (a BB), steel rods, pop-up pistons, tweaked cam, 4 winfields and a big-*** stainless header pipe that blows up to about 5 inch diameter as it gets to the back of the car.

The later DV32 cars are really cool and I would kill to get a Super Bearcat. The guy that's helping build my engine has one, you basically sit on top of the rear axle.
