Some of that stuff, it just won't look right without chicks in Beehive hairstyles and capri pants. Maybe those funny lookin' glasses. You know the ones. Skinny ties and crewcuts for the lads.

  6. Funny.....my Wife’s the one that’s the driving force of this accumulation of stuff. Although we do ok selling our cast offs when we f8nd something we like a little more. We had a friend comment that it must be nice to have the money to decorate your home like that after going to a mid mod vintage store...we got em in the car and told them what we pay for stuff....way and I mean wayyyy less than buying new junk...and it’s so much cooler!

  7. Your place is amazing.....over the top cool...post up some pics for everyone!

  8. Wow....that sofa and end tables are amazing...we are on the hunt for those..gonna do our 3 season room up in a 50/60’s rumpus room / tiki vibe..hang some fish floats, some lighting , and vintage hawaiana

I feel like I'm in good company here. The orange chair and sofa set I bought at a rummage sale for $10, the kidney bean bar was free on the curb and I waddled it down the street to my house because I didn't want anyone to snag it while I went to get a truck. TV in my living room was on the curb with guts missing, I put a color CRT in it so it works again with a remote and all that. I quit doing old car projects for a few years to redo my house, I'm there more than driving any of my cars. These pics are old and kinda poor quality, I should take more.

I'm rarely jealous, but this is amazing, and it's made 100X cooler that it was Spiro Agnew's. That is a fantastic thing.

The turqouise toilet in my bathroom pic was found on the curb while on a date with my girlfriend, she was cool with me taking it and I was super excited to find it, it's dated Dec '59 and my house was finished in 1960.

Got pics of the new blue sink? Where'd you find it?

  18. It’s funny..people don’t realize how much they can get for those old “pink sinks and toilets” haha. Yeah the sink I got was a trash pick special. We found it at a great place called Retro Attic in Bay City. I payed 25 bucks for it and it’s super clean.
Finding toilet seats can be a challenge. We found a place in California that has all the colors..problem is you buy it you own it. We have Elgin toilets dated 1959...the blue I picked was perfect, the green not so much, but at 70 bucks it works! But I’m sure I’ll order the right one once I find a light green sink

Retro Renovation is a great site and resource for restoring mid century homes

Thanks! Originally only the bottom (leg area) was natural wood. I just thought the drawer fronts would pull some interest to the top. Gold handles are metal. I put these in Picker Joe's Antique Shop and they were sold within 2 days.

Cheap ass..got this one cheap and a rare color..

  26. Very cool..I like Lee Rocker on the TV...just saw Brian Setzer Sunday night. He played stray cat strut, runaway boys, and I was blown away..fishnet stockings. I was in Junior High and me an my only “car friend” were huge Stray Cat fans..wore those cassettes out...his Dad would let us “cruise” the big fairground shows in his 39 and we’d always have those guys playing..who’d of thought that at 50 we’d still be into cars, old music, old houses...

Couple photos inside our 1960 ranch home. This living room area is open to the kitchen and a 2-sided fireplace partially divides it from the formal dining room.
