The lower part of the body of my 1958 chevy panel is pretty rusted now that i took of a lot of bondo.
I’m searching for repair/patch panels but i can only find patch panels for the pick ups and not for the panel/suburban.
    Is somebody selling these ?

  2. I have a 58 and as far as I know no one makes them, Just looking I think the bottom half of a fleet side bed is the same from the body line down [IMG]

as a general rule if a guy has the skills to make these new shitty patch panels fit the intended target they also have the skills to make one from flat sheet metal.

True, but they usually have to find that out for themselves first.

True for making them out of flat sheet but mine are so rusted out and filled with lots off bondo, I cannot even find a piece to get the original shape.
I'm gonna look for some original fleet side panels next week, hope that will work out.

Ran into the same problem with my '63 panel, am using beds sides from a long bed pickup for patch panels. Yes, they'll have to be modified a bit but it's still a lot easier than fabricating from scratch.

Only problem is that it is hard to find fleetside panels over here.
I can get two sides for 1700 over here , little too much when i only need the lower 4 inches

  9. Probably bend them over your knee

I need some for one 10 years earlier....and for a 1 ton, long wheelbase to make it even harder. Might have a lead on a guy near Dallas that can make some. If it works out, I will let you know.

I tell guys looking for patch panels every time it comes up here. learn from my mistakes.

you especially don't want to buy patch panels if you are not doing the work. a guy bought an NOS panel that goes under the trunk for a 51 Fleetline, to be used on a 51 coupe I was patching up for him. they are only the same on the bottom 3 or 4 inches,,, when I told him I didn't need it he got all pissy with me and told me this is "not his first rodeo", and he insisted that I cut it up to patch his coupe. so I bent up some sheetmetal and patched it using that, then sold the panel on ebay for a couple hundred bucks. always let the customer think he is right.:)

use a brake to bend some metal to the shape of the door/rocker, then massage the end to make it fit the wheelwell. Shouldn't be too difficult, for a skilled metal guy.

Be sure to replace the metal up past the highest rust pinholes, so it won't come back to haunt you.

The contour at the bottom is not the same....

  18. You might be able to use a pair of 55-59 truck rocker panels and the leading edge of pair of stepside fenders to repair those areas.

The rockers I can make on my brake , for the more flowing lines I can use the c10
    repair panel.
Im not so skilled to fabricate everything from scratch but I will get there.
