NOT ... Another 3 window post ... Just kidding ... Channeled and not chopped ... kind of a unusual choice ... What are the plans for it ?? .
Another Deuce Snob. Just what we need around here. You gotta love that swiss cheesed front axle & crossmember. What a score. Congratulations! JH
I see a candy Pagan gold paintjob, red steelies and WWW. Before you go and and re-chrome everything, go to the marine supply and pick up some 00 bronze wool, and some chrome polish.
Wow, that's a great find....Love the proportions/stance, and hell even those wheels kinda look ok! A few simple changes and it will be awesome. =]
A friend had a Falcon on ebay and a fellow from up in Ohio came to look at it. He seen my friend's 34 Ford in the garage and said he knew where there was an old car like that one that he heard was for sale. This Ohio guy said it was a car like the one in that movie (American Graffitti) but said he wasn't interested in it for he liked muscle cars. He said he'd call my buddy back with the name and phone number when he got home. Clay (my buddy) said he didn't expect to hear from him again but lo and behold the kat called. Clay gave the Deuce owner (Jerry) a call and confirmed the story. Clay couldn't remember all the details Jerry gave him due to too many Bud Lights. Clay called me the next day and asked if I was interested with what few details he could remember and of course I was. From what he said the guy wanted for the car, I figured it to be in a million pieces or just the top left with the rest rusted off. I figured it worth a look see though. We jumped in the car last friday night after work and made the journey to Morgan County, Ohio. Needless to say, when we first seen the car we were shocked. Old Jerry said he was 63 years old and had owned the car since he was 16. Evidently he owned the car before he first titled it for the original title was for 1964. He said he terrorized the streets and strips of Columbus in it back in the 60's running a 312 Y-block. Jerry said he was moving out of state and was selling off all excess. He priced me the car and basically said take it or leave it. I went back the next day with toadskins in hand and hauled er' home. By the time we left his house on saturday I had two extra engines, an extra tranny, a truck load of parts and a smile on my face that you couldn't swipe off with a crappy mop! I must admit that it has a fiberglass door on the right side. Jerry said the origianl door was hit and ruined by a woman driver back in the 60's. I've always wanted a Deuce coupe but always figured it was way beyond reach. I guess some dreams do come true.
Good Lord! That poor fool is going to Kick himself when he sobers up. What a KOOL Coupe!! The Wizzard
Yes, the wheels are from the 70's. The last time he had it on the road was 1985. The wheels and seats are gonna go and have been spoken for locally. He threw in a set of old MG seats with the parts and I have some steelies at home. Yes, the deck lid has been molded in with a 50 Merc gas door on top. I'm not planning on changing the overall appearnce of the car for I like it as is. The pics didn't show it but it also has a roll bar in the car. That will stay too. I'll try to clean up the chrome axle and backing plates as suggested.
Nice find! Funny how that deal turned out, looks like you were ment to have that car. You'll be on the road in no time compaired to the '32 Vicky I brought home last month. Nice to know there are more out there.Good luck with it! Bob
Good find and rescue.... I would date it mid to late seventies though judgeing from the wheels/tires and fenders.... I can hear the disco music now... It will be a nice machine when you are done with it..
Real good find, you hear it all the time but very rarely is it true. When I started my A model I was taken to a guys place to buy some parts, his shed had about 9 cars, all early Aussy rods and customs just sitting there rusting, none of them had moved in a LONG time. I wonder if they are still there?? Guy said he would never part with them though............. Doc.
It looks 60's, the heavy channel, chopped grille, and bobbed rear fenders was all stuff going on in the 60's. Wicked look, right on the money, with the possible exception of the grille, and those truck wheels. Those door panel are outstanding, and that axle and crossmember look scary, but wild!
