Looking to replace a trashed 30s chevy steering box with a corvair reversed steering box. Shopping for one I noticed a really big price range difference from one source to another. Like $201 from jegs, $319 + from speedway, and much more from others and this is for a plain ol black one. What am I missing that would justify this much difference or just go for the cheap one?

I went the cheap route. I suspect most come from the same offshore source anyway. Mine was sloppy out of the box. I’ve heard they all are. It seemed to tighten up fine with some adjustment at the input shaft end and the adjustment screw on the side. Make sure the side cover is sealed. Mine leaks a little. You might also consider drill & tap for a lube fill plug on the top. I put 500 miles on mine this summer. So far no problems.

Buy a name brand and skip the Speedway/Jegs branded boxes. The extra money is worth it. It only controls your car.

I put a Speedway job in my T coupe. Lasted 3000 miles and 2 years. Speedway refunded my money. No questions asked.
