Ok guys... I went ahead and ordered a pair of theses since I NEEDED tires before Billetproof. I ordered them straight from Coker, and I was really happy with their customer service. I wanted a pair of blackwalls, but even after the 10% HAMB discount (applies only to first quality parts), I was further ahead to go with blemished whitewalls and take the Krylon to them... These cost me $388 total, including shipping. First of all, I'm not exactly sure what the blems were! If I wanted whitewalls, I would've run these without a second thought! However, they branded "BLEM" into the blackwall side, which is the side I'm running out. These 8.20's don't look nearly as "monster truck"-ish as the 10.00 pics I found all over the web. I still like the looks of the Radir's better, but these tires actually exist! In the pics you can see them mounted on a 15x7 , and you can see them compared to a L60-15 mounted on a 15x8; And then you can see them mounted on the car. They have 20psi in the pics, but they look like they could run a little lower. Anyway, here they are, so if any of you are thinking of running them, maybe these pics will help!
I'm on my third set of these under warrenty, first two set have fallen apart with less than 20 miles on each. I'm hoping this new set will be OK.
What are they re-capped over? Or are they? Can you heat them up really good with out them getting slick like radials do? I like the whit wall side. Killer car by the way!!
Thanks! They might... I just called the number on their website and asked if they had any blemished tires. They didn't have any blackwall blems (I'm not sure how you'd mess up a blackwall anyway), but they DID have this one pair of whitewall blems, so I got 'em! They have the same warranty as the first quality parts, with the exception of cosmetic defects not being covered.
I'll be putting a pair on my Lyndwood rail, the car ran them back in 1962. I think it is the best looking slick out there. Remember as a kid in the 1960's all the AMT Trophy Series models came with Firestone slicks. Thank you Coker Tire for making them available!
Looking good Steve.... though I think the whitewalls might look better, but I would have to see it in person. Oh wait thats next weekend!! Kick ***!!
Those tires looked awful tucked up in the wheel wells of my Impala, but inthe much more open wheel wells of your '55, they look pretty damn good. Nice!
call me crazy... but I like the Cragar wheels better. I don't know why, because if you told me to choose between the two without seeing it together... there is NO way I would have chosen the Cragars. Funny. Looks real good. (I hope it hooks)
Yeah, I'm still unsure of which I like better. But, the Cragars were borrowed, and I got a REALLY good deal on the Americans (Thanks again Boomer! )!
Wheels and tire combo looks great. Also kudos on the cool picture of your car in the new TRK Autorama article. Looking forward to seeing the car up close next weekend.
Thanks! Somebody told me about that article, but I haven't seen it yet. I'm gonna have to stop and grab one on my way in to work today!
Hey Steve, are those skin's about 29'' to 30'' in height? See ya at billetproof.......hope to get a group shot of our 55's.
Hey Guys, thought I would let everyone know that the M/T Radir 8.20-15 and 10.00-15"s are on the production line as we speak, in a new softer compound as well, just a few more days... And they dont look like bald snow tires either
that last maroon A 5W is kick ***. does that belong to someone on here? if so I'd like to see more details, build pics, etc.
Well, like I said, I like the looks of the Radirs better too... BUT, sometimes you have to go with parts that are available. The Radirs have been out of stock for quite a while. I'm not gonna NOT drive my car, just because I'm gonna wait all summer for the "cool" tires. I could just tell everyone at the shows/cruises "Sure I drove my daily driver here; my car's at home waiting for tires; but let me tell you, one day when it DOES have tires, they're gonna be some of the coolest tires you've ever seen!"
Good... REALLY good! He got his pick line removed yesterday, so no more IV antibiotics; The oral surgeon and the ENT both told him not to come back unless it's just to visit; and he's going Tuesday to pick up his new teeth! His ribs are still pretty sore and he still has a few sore spots in his jaw, but other than that he's doing really well!
