Way old enough to know better. Fellow teacher just got a 68/69 GTO. Handed me the keys and asked me to test drive it with him. Went out on a country two lane during lunch and drove around a little then pounded it through the gears. Slowed down for a curve and he asked, "How fast were we going?" "Don't know, was watching the road." Next straight section I spun it up again. "How fast?" "About 105." "The telephone poles were going by faster before."

68` 400 firebird with 2:56 gears, 137 mph, had more but the car was floating bad.

New challenger hellcat 135, plenty left but not enough road ;)

135 Honda shadow with chin on gas tank and throttle maxed.

Yeah...NO. I don't recall a 160 speedo in a Challenger. I had a 71 440 Six Pack and I swear (along with what I can find on Google) that they only went up to 150. And, I could be wrong, I think the 340 Six Pack cars only went up to 120

One of the worst GM designs was the C3 Vette. Don't take me amiss, beautiful, curvaceous...sexy by anyone's account. But at 100 MPH the front end begins to lift hard and the feel for the road is liken to masturbation by a numb hand. I installed a tremec 5 gear which made the 3:90 rear ratio sing a sweet love song at the century mark but the next trick is known only to those few that flirt with plastic disaster. You have to reach down under the dash and pull the hood latch, giving release to the aerodynamic demons living beneath the fiberglass bonnet. No fear, for the hood opens toward the bow...and the game is afoot. It ends only when your better senses convinces your balls of their superiority.

Thankfully GM stopped putting 53 BelAir front suspension in early Corvettes.

    Indeed! Glad and great shot!
First thought after that description is 'tough dude', then "that's why the rules are strict".
Gotta wonder why they don't have someone drive the walking questionable to hospital though.
Macho is part of the legend, but blacking out on the drive would be bad. Looks like 96 miles, into a city.

Did 160 plus mph on a Suzuki B King (naked Hayabusa) but only for about 5 to 10 seconds just to say Id been there.
Did 91 mph on the water in a Hydrostream HST
Buried the needle in the 440 Six Pack Challenger but I honestly didn't look at the speedo
