Wiring. Drives me crazy to see a trash load of wires running all over the place.

Neat welds. If you can't weld neatly, learn to dress them up with a grinder but don't leave "chicken doo" welds on your cars, people.

Window crank position. With window all the way up, looking from driver's seat at driver's door, crank points to 2:00... mirrored on passenger side.

  10. How about 1/2" aluminum gas line, all bent up every inch, then connected to rubber hose that looks like somebody bit it off, secured by worm gear clamps that are too long, and kinked over and down ?:eek:

Not carrying a theme all the way thru a build. Not as big of a problem here, but in other automotive areas dudes build half pro street, 1/4 pro touring and 1/4 custom. Big blown engines in stock restorations. Mix and match. Make up your mind! Drives me nuts.

Hose clamps that are too long, rear axle/spring U bolts that are too long, sheet metal screw tip that is visible. Above all, the area that you forgot to paint. Bob

  13. Door/panel gaps. 20k on a custom paint job and the gaps are all out of whack.

Wiring needs to be neat and loomed up. Plug wires routed well. No matter how good everything else looks, I always wonder what else is wrong when folks have unkempt wiring.

When I converted my OT 66 Fairlane to RHD I used a local RHD cowl forward with skirts and frame rails as well as side scuttle panels forward of the front door hinges. RHD heater box bolts right in as does steering and brakes. Plus the wipers swept to the RH side. I wanted to retain the OEM look and as such all the visible factory spot welds were intact. Where other welds were visible or not I finished them so it appeared totally original. Believe me it was a lot of work, even the dash, shifter and instrument configuration were mirrored to RHD format as was the parking brake pedal. I didn't do the console, too much work and no one would have noticed anyway. I even moved the radio aerial across to the opposite RH front fender. Some think I was anal by doing so much work. That separates the men from the boys.:D
All the 'Know it alls' went over it and commented that Ford had never produced a convertible Fairlane and that I had done a great job cutting the roof off and lengthening the doors etc etc.:rolleyes: If they'd noticed everything about the body was different, fenders, bars, hood, grill. Even the 390FE and C6 which wasn't offered locally in the smaller Fairlane; all we got were poverty pack 4-door sedans, nothing else.

  17. Adjacent hard lines that aren't parallel.

I spent hours getting my Chevy's brake m/c lines parallel:

I have a weird fetish for removing casting flash. Can't stand it. When I was in high school, I was broke all the time, so I filed and ground everything. I could work in the shop for hours and when I did finally get around to painting parts, it was a better finish. It just carried forward.

They do have a radiused side and a sharp side where they are stamped out.

    Sharp side down!

People who display there vehicle with the hood all the way up. A door that is opened up all the way or worse, both doors. And the trunk lid also opened up all the way. It reminds me of an airplane.

Corrugated universal radiator hose makes me crazy. Even if you have to join parts of two different hoses it looks better than the universal stuff

Only thing that looks dumber is a row of like cars, (think small wild horses by Ford) with the hoods all up, looks like feeding time at an alligator farm. Bob
