the reason i ask is because Floyd (the neighborhood old timer) keeps saying he wants to install the 427 in his '37,which already has a *****in flattie in it.
he had the 427 in a '58 Vette, but it cracked the L/F fender from too much torque.
they sell kits where you don't have to cut anything up,right?
he doesn't even want to drill holes in the frame,if it will bolt up to the original mounts he might do it.

If your ***le is correct and you're talking about a '57 Chevy, it can be done with the stock mount locations, but if I remember correctly, the firewall has to be dimpled on the p***enger side for cylinder head clearance.

You'll probably want a 6-cylinder style radiator too, for the front clearence. The 6 rad. is in front of the support.

Both correct. The motor mounts on the BBC are the same distance from the back of the block as a SBC. That forces the radiator to move to the forward side of the support. It's also taller and wider, so things can get kind of tight around the firewall. Tolerances were real loose on these cars, however, so the firewall may or may not be an issue. Exhaust clearance can get tight also, especially to the steering box.
