This dash is a closed car '38, matching the speedo and gauge cluster can be tough, 15 different combinations... '37 -'39 car and truck, dlx and std... also eliminates the fluid in a tube senders. I used a closed car, but Woodie / cabbie dashes better lend themselves to mounting in a '30-'31 closed car A... they taper down about 1/2" as they widen... no crank hole. I cut out both speedo and cluster mounting holes, moved the speedo to the center, filled in the gaps, will holesaw and mount 2 gauges centered either side of the speedo... Like a '35-'36 car, don't need to match the speedo, oil and temp beside the speedo, gas in the right kick panel... . traded the first one with nashrodman, think it was a '39 car though... View attachment 4100558 . I also remove the speaker grill, fill with flat steel and mount a neat little $6 V8 flags emblem inside the stock speaker grill bezel... fits like a glove but forgot to take a pick...
Work in progress on my '37 Chevy pickup, Deerslayer. Original dash with '35-'36 Chevy car glove box door which has ash tray and clock. The clock is a '54 Chevy truck clock. Steering wheel is a '41 Chevy car deluxe "spinner" wheel. Rubber shrouded marine push ****on, high on dash, next to glove box, is new horn ****on.
"traded the first one with nashrodman, think it was a '39 car though..." Yep, and I haven't done a damn thing with it yet. LOL. Maybe someday.....
The '30-'31 model A closed car hotrod dashes are 41.25" wide... if your T is close then a '37 to '40 will work... HIH,
'38 closed car, 1.75" exhaust pipe about 6" long, split lengthwise, used 1/3 of the pipe per side, then .5" was flattened on an anvil... makes what looks like a candy cane from the end... welded in to let the ends rollover smoothly... will buy soup ladles Wednesday to cut and form the upper corners...
Dropped a $5.00 motorcycle speedometer in and drilled a couple gauge holes, sanded the edges and gave it a coat of cheapo spraybomb… a little like a '36 and '38's offspring.
Cut out the speaker louvers, filled and sanded it , retained the holes to mount its bezel... had [1] 289 with flags emblem... fits in the bezel ? hmmmmm. trimmed the outer edges [exhaust pipe] to better match the A pillar... . H Had a glovebox door that had its clock hole hogged out to 2 7/8" diameter... I offset hogged it out to 3 3/8" for a tach... welded in a 1/4"-20 alignment stud at center to locate and support the dash...
