old Salt flats look great on your ride, have more style than the steelies and breaks up so much black. just my opinion don't want to freak anyone out!
The alloys give you less unstrung weight. They are some of my favorite newer style alternatives to older more expensive traditional styles,.and because they have been around for a while, now,; they too are 'new' traditional.
Really appreciate everyone’s input. We’ve had our talks in the shop also and my partner and I have a difference of opinion and we’ve decided to settle this at the race track-old school vs new school- deuce vs deuce
Love the Color and the History! Short trips/steelies, Long trips/alloys. Either way you're bound to get plenty of comments. How about some video of the race? Best 2 out of 3, right?!

Hey J, That 32 looks pretty good. It gives your 5 window some drag race hot rod at***ude, instead of a cruiser. In our case, if we had the money to get a set of Halibrands or any set of mag wheels, that would have been the choice back then, in 1959-60. With the money question out of the picture, it is still Halibrands or other original 1960 mag wheels. Our Impala would have looked odd with those Halibrands, but our 1940 Willys Coupe and our first buy, a Model A would have looked really good with Halibrands or American Mag Wheels. Even my first 40 Ford Sedan Delivery would have looked, oh, so cool with Halibrands instead of black wheels with mini hubcaps. But, then, money talked and made it easy for the decision. Jnaki In your case, the mags look the best...IMHO
Ya know what the problem is? The stock headlights. Put some guides or BLC 7" lights in place of the stockers and raise them up to a traditional position and the aluminum wheels look right. Low mounted stock headlights need 17" wires with knobby tires like the rusty "Schmidt" boxes run.
Like was said earlier, switch them out as the mood strikes you. I have the original wires, salt flats and steel with caps for my 32's that I interchange depending on the look I want at that time. Just put on the ones you desire that day....
The looks of the car are very different with the two choices, you are a lucky man having to worry about **** like that.
Love all the advise and I’m taking all to heart When this deuce left lobeck’s shop in 2005 it had polished salt flat wheels and it was taken Dearborn for a photo shoot with Barry. I’m trying not to alter this deuce to much from its original build but I’ll do some that are simple bolt on changes That I can revert back
Awwww...you're just showin' off. Hee-hee... Nice coupe. Oh, Barry Lobeck built it. No wonder. Black steel wheels for me. Personally, I've never really liked the other style wheel. Just my tastes. But I know some guys like 'em a lot. Depends on what's most important... Looks? That's subjective and up to you. Or is it more important that the car be a tribute to Barry? In that case, I'd say that the mags are greatly appropriate.

I do intend to keep this car as a tribute to Barry and his style I first noticed him in the early 80’s and knew it as the “Ohio Look” and later as the “Lobeck Look”
That car looks good with both! I lean towards the Painted Steelies . I do think however the paint on your 32 tends to go better with the Kidneys. If the car was Black or a solid non-metallic, then definitely the painted steel wheels.
