I saw a buddy in his 55 chev cruzin home last eve... he had just had his son (who manages a local service station)put his new set of American Torque Thrust's on his car they switched out the tires. Then they delivered the car back to him while he was gettin dinner with his girl friend at a local joint . When they gave him the keys in the resturant.. he asked"Did you have trouble gettin the back tires on " cuz he does when he does it at home they are a snug fit ....the kid says "no problem at all"... "but they did break off a stud tho" DAMN.... when goes out and checks he looks at the broken stud and looks harder at the wheel well gap ..... he notices they put the bigger tires up front....205'S IN BACK 245'S IN FRONT The flunky tire guy apparently has never seen bigger tires on the back of a car his whole life.. and did not notice ... lol and right at the sight of this f. u. paperdog
Well, I guess the only way to salvage the mess is to convert the thing to front-wheel drive...should lead to some interesting tech posts.
i picture that and dont know whether to laugh or cry..... i will settle for laugh...hahahahahahahaaha
I have talked to the 55 chev owner again today and told him to be careful as there were still a couple of ways to get his tires on wrong... side to side big + littles (ala NASCAR ) and as my girlfriend remarked corner to corner......TIPPY ... I also suggested marking them F+R next time . My buddy has not really seen this as humorous yet..... I missed the photo op too. paperdog
I can handle the big & little reversal, but I can't hardly believe a guy would return his dad's car and not mention the broken stud until he was asked. The son's gas station sounds like a good one to stay away from. Then again, maybe the son is ready to cash in on dad's will.... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The electronics store ground bolt is about the dumbest I've ever seen. Just goes to show if you can't do it yourself you're probably gonna suffer somewhere down the line. Or . . . be walking....
You've got to be kidding me?!?! They'll let any idiot install stereos these days. I normally do my own installs, but I'll DEFINITELY not take to have it done.
Just to be clear is that grounded to a heater fitting or a/c line? oh by the way it was too late in the day to get a stud for my buddys car and they are fixin it right when they get one... they did not want to leave his 55 at the station over night?!!!!
As many four lugnuts on five lugs wheels I saw in Central California I suppose driving the car easy would get it home ok. Somewhere along the line I read that the strength component of four lugs in use on a five lug wheel is only 52% of what it is with all five lugs in service.
geeze! There is a street racer around Chicago that is called 'Three Lug.' Had a pretty fast car too... Yikes!
it was a heater line, cust brought the car in complaing about wet floormats and a low coolant light, hah, darwin was an idiot Larry
i seen a guy riding a ten speed bike wearing a t shirt, shorts, and knee high cowboy boots. that was a funny sight to see.
at first i thought that was an exhaust pipe but noticed it was inside....holy **** people are stupid. what was going through the guys head on that one? "hey look a pipe I will just screw this in there"
THANK GOODNESS IT WAS NOT A FUEL LINE ON A INJECTED CAR !!!! sometime ago I got fired for slappin employees on the back of the head and once for telling my cashier to smile.. I don't know how personnel dept.s handle employee **** ups now.... I guess hug them and tell them they are going to learn from it ... THEN PROMOTE THEM TO A DIFFERENT JOB!!! LATE UPDATE ON THE 55 CHEV HE JUST FINALLY GOT THE REAR END SEALS FIXED THE WEEK BEFORE (WHY HE WAITED ON THE WHEEL SWITCHAROO) AND NOW HAS TO REPLACE A REAR STUD ....
I worked at a bodyshop with a guy (Chris) who had a '72 Cutl*** convertible. He drove it to work one day and during lunch we were checking it out, another guy (Tim) pointed out that one of the wheels only had two lugnuts on it. Chris said "That's all you need is two" and Tim replied "Yeah, but helps if there not right next to each other". True story.
i was working at a firestone back in highschool on the weekends. we had a car come back for a "unbalanced tire". when i put it up, i noticed the lugnuts flopping in the wind, another young teck said some thing like screw this guy, which led me to believe it was intentional. i brought it up to the manager and he gave me the hush hush. i quit there that day if i remember right.
I remember when I got the first slots and big tires for my car, the tech told me of some other kid that brought his car in for some big wheels and tires, anyhow the offset was not right and they did not fit under the wheelwell. The guy said when he asked the kid what he wanted them to do he just told em to cut the wheelwell bigger. I think they did it too..
FOLLOW UP STORY THE 55'S WHEELS ARE SWITCHED NOW BUT WHEN THEY PUT ON THE RIMS ON THE WRONG WAY THEY DID NOT NOTICE THE RAISED BUMPS UNDER THE WHEEL FACE BETWEEN THE LUGS ... THEY MAY HAVE CRACKED THE WHEELS TORQUING THEM DOWN WITH A IMPACT HE IS NOT HAPPY...
