Truck is starting to look like an elephant with more panels in primer gray. I ordered a fresh air source with hood as the 2k urethane primer was messing with my eyes and throat. Wondering if I could/ should switch to a different chemistry for the top coat.

Did some painting today. Used the breathe cool fresh air system and my new 3M accuspray paint gun. Wow what a difference in comfort and quality of spray with easy clean up. I would definitely recommend both of these items. I don’t feel any ill effects from painting. Check it out.

I had a picture but no luck posting or viewing photos these days on phone or computer.. Not sure why...

Bought a Toyota frame and rolling frame table today on offer up. Pretty fun getting it home in my Datsun trailer/ Land Rover Discovery 2,hauling set up. It had a 35o block and turbo 400 carc*** mocked up for ballast. Once it got home the frame had to die so the coe could have a tilt cab sub frame. Shaved everything off the rails and tried them in every direction to see what would work best.

engine has been mounted directly under cab. There will have to be a bubble under the seat for the carb and air cleaner. Access to engine would be a major pain without a tilt cab so I’m adding that to the list.

It’s gonna happen. Just started this week. Any threads you have to point me too would be appreciated..

  10. Keep your pivot points as low and far forward as possible! That way the "chin" won't dig into the asphalt. (I hate it when that happens)
I'm going to use a hi-lift jack to tip mine, if you figure a way to check oil and coolant without tipping the cab, how often do you really have to tip it? Jump starts can be done with bulkhead posts

  11. This isn't the best picture, but notice where the seat is, compared to the turbo, on mine. Top of turbo is 53" off the floor.

Mine is almost always tilted at car shows otherwise not to often. I can access trans and engine dip sticks from gl*** side panels without tilting, oil fill is still TBD.

Linear actuator lifts quite well with the touch of a ****on.

Progress. Decided running boards will be fixed to frame otherwise they probably would hit the bed.

I had a burst of inspiration/energy. Here’s where we’re at. I need to get the electric actuator for automatic tilting...

Very nice... Will the tire diameter remain similar??

Those are OEM Ford E 350 van tires. I have some 20 inch rims waiting in the wings.

The only issue I see tilting the cab as far forward as pictured is with the steering column. Gonna have to think on that. Maybe with a telescoping shaft and a hinged connection at the dash it could work. Otherwise it may have to be disconnected to achieve such an extreme angle.

Just wondering if you'll hit larger diameter tires... Tires are my limiting factor... Could your steering come near the pivot point? Wouldn't a ujoint be able to flop over that 90 degrees just fine?

Tires shouldn’t be an issue. I followed Wolfcreek Steve’s advice to put the pivot point as low/forward as possible. It does hit the fender but not until the nose is practically on the ground. Maybe if I don’t go to such extreme tilts (showing off) then I can make something work without disconnecting the steering shaft.

My electric linear actuator from Bailey Hydraulics came in the mail today. Rated for 110lbs active force and 500 lbs static. Somehow that doesn’t seem like it’s gonna cut it. I’m wondering what wetskier used and where he sourced it.

Thanks guys. Here’s what I ended up with as far as travel... “Plenty” of room to get to the engine for any kind of adjustments or maintenance. Gotta blow it all apart and reinforce/finalize some stuff. While it’s apart I’ll get the front end sheet metal repairs going and get things in primer. Lots on the to do list including shortest driveshaft in the world.

Cab off. Rot repair where 4 layers come together at the lower front door jam/wheel well area. Had to remove a half tube of silicone caulk that had been shot into the breach. Firewall fabrication up next.
