There are 4 listed for 2019. I need to go swap meet diving and look for some goodness for my bucket but if I had to pick one only, which event you would go to (is one bigger than the rest?)

I have never been to one and just curious on if they are all about the same then I will pick one that fits my schedule.

    Thanks for any help. ;^)

I would not recommend a drive from Nevada to go to any of the Pleasanton Goodguys swap meets. though the show in August is worth the drive all by itself.

the best swap meet by far here in California is the Turlock Swap in January.... at least in the northern part of the state. it would take 3 or 4 years worth of Pleasanton Goodguys swaps to equal one January Turlock swap.

Plus, Turlock Swap is a whole weekend, all day Saturday and most of Sunday.

My dad and I go every year for my birthday. It's a quiet kind of fun. Lotsa walking, bring comfy shoes. :D

Turlock is out for me, I have to fly out to Scottsdale on the 18th and with my work schedule its impossible for me to back to back weekend travel.

The big 3 in San Diego in February has always been good for me. Friday afternoon through Sunday. But it's been taken over by a promoter so not sure how good the one this February will be. The Sacramento meet in April that used to be at the sleep train center would be closer to NV but I haven't been since its moved to the expo center.

  7. Ummm, LARS. Not a Good guys event but best by far. 3 I would go for are the Big 3 in San Diego, Turlock and then LA Roadster show (LARS) on in June.

Socal is too far for me, Sac would be fine. Im not only interested in the swap meet aspect, but the show also. I just have a few things I am looking for and a large swap meet would be nice. The Reno hot august nights swap meet was more like a drive in flea market, more tie die and cup holders than anything....a waste of space AFAIC.

The LARS would give you the best bang for your buck in terms of size of the event and the quality and diversity of the swap meet vendors . There's a reason why they come from such a large geographical area to attend this swap meet .

Im sure it would, but logistically its a nightmare for a weekend trip, and thats all I have time for at this point. If I wasnt 9 hours away from LA I might think about it.

I guess the question should be......if I had to choose from one of the goodguy events in pleasanton.....which one is bigger/better or are they all just about the same?

  11. I have been to Turlock many times. It is a plane ride away from the east coast, but it is worth it. 2 years ago, I convinced 2 of my buddies to go. We went to Gene Scotts old place on Thgursday, had a good tour with Jim Gordon, Gene Scott's former employee. Fridy we went to Turner's Auto Parts in Fresno, then on to Turlock. Saturday we were in Line when they opened the gates. Sunday we went to the Roadster Show, Monday we went to the Peterson Museum, then to Bob's Big Boy for supper. Then we went to Mulholland Drive, and then to the airport to come home. This was all done from Thursday to Monday. If you plan it right, as we did, you can do a lot.

I sell at both the BIG 3 and LARS. Even with all the gripes about LARS changes the last 2 years, I think it is far better than the BIG 3.

The Crusin' News, Folsom, CA - John Sweeney - Hamb name escapes me at moment - puts on The big Sacramento Swap Meets - last I heard is that he had plans for April 2019 at Cal Expo - if someone has a current issue of his newsprint mag maybe there are updates - I sold at last one he did early this year - lots of sellers, seemed more than buyers

How old are you? When I was younger I left Springfield, Oregon after work Friday, drove all night to Turlock. About 9 hours, 550 miles and snow from Medford to Redding ( back before they would close I5 for a few inches of white stuff) Arrived in Turlock and slept in the truck until daylight. Kind of a drizzlin day, made this webfoot feel at home, hiked the whole swap and headed back toward Oakland for the GNRS. Still made it home Sunday night.

For my 2cents, Turlock in Jan, Roadster show in June and if you haven't found what you need or if it has become a habit like it was with me, Pleasanton in Aug.

My map shows about 8 hours from Reno to Pomona. Leave at 6:00pm arrive at 2:00, sleep until 7:00 and have all day Sunday to drive home.

Im not that ambitious, lol.....I have had several back surgeries and my road trip travel times are limited.

Its not that big of a deal for me and what Im after really, just looking for a place to wander and see what tickles my fancy more than anything, definitely not high enough priority for me to warrant a long drive and huge adventure. Its not that important.

I was just asking because I would like to make short trek and check out some stuff, enjoy a show, and head home. I dont have time in my schedule to do multiple trips to multiple places, so I need to pick 1, and its going to be one of the pleasanton shows due to logistics.

Would I love to go to turlock, sure, but thats not happening, Jan is a busy month for me every year, plans in stone every Jan that Im not going to change.
