IMO what makes it rare, I don't think many survived, desirable is your personal opinion. The bad/hard expensive part of a 58 Chevy restoration/Hot Rod, no repop anything, parts difficult to find as again not many appeared to have survived. I had a 58 Impala ragtop as a kid (60's pic's in album) and have considered getting one again and they are pricey cars, same deal with a 57 Chevy (my first car at 16, now many repop parts including complete bodies)) both way more than I am willing to spend, a NICE ragtop 50/70K+ range, have seen up to 100K+ asking. I like many here like the Tri-5 chevy's including the Nomad, again pricey cars and with the number of these cars that you see a fair amount were saved/restored/Rodded. One man's Junk is another man's Jewel.

Me thinks almost all HAMB friendly wagons are “rare” or at least cool

including 4 way Flasher.s with the Chevy emblem on them.
I was going to Fix it but Instead I Striped it & gave the rest of the Car
to the Junk yard, the Engine & Trans { Powerglide }when in my 50 Merc.

Recently purchased a 58 nomad, starting to gather the parts to get her running... yes its a more door, but with kids that's a good thing ( think car seats). Its a sharp looking style, and i cant remember ever having seen another one in person.
I ***ume that the demolition derby had a dramatic impact on the number of survivors.
The 187,000 number that Bleach quoted is for all wagon models combined, and im willing to bet that many more yoemans or other less expensive models had much higher sales numbers; after all it was the mini-van of its time.
Unfortunately on the one I bought the original engine was replaced with a 283, but according to the cowl tag it came from the factory with a 348 with the tri-power option.
My opinion is that it will be the coolest ride on my block at least...
