Hey gang can u guys give me a hand rewiring this gm alternator?
    I'll give u a history on it.

I found out that the battery drains overnight.
    Got a different battery,dead overnight.
So pulled the NEGATIVE cable off negative post and put a light tester between the post and lead.

    Tester turns on..
I have a Parasitic drain somewhere.

I pulled fuses out and nothing.
I unplugged the alternator and the tester turned off.
    Changed to a different alternator.
Took the first alternator to Autozone, it checked out good.

Checked new alternator drain with test light and got the same answer.
Took the spade connector off the "F" side of alternator and the tester turns off..
When i plug the alternator "F" and "R" and put the light test to them, the both are on.. Even with the ignition switch off.

The PO has a live wire from +side of battery, spliced to a wire to the fuse block..No fuse(what size fuse can i put inline of this connection?)

Thers a thick positive lead cable directly to starter so no starter solenoid.

So with all this info... Where should I start?
I will put an idiot light once i fix this drain so its less confusing for me.
Thanks for all suggestions and hopefully youll have somewhat similar ways to go about it .

With the ignition switch OFF, the Field wire SHOULD NOT read voltage (reading from the wire). If the wire shows voltage, then maybe the ignition switch is bad, or there is something shorted to the wire.

note - I am guessing you have an alternator with an internal regulator like in the picture
