  2. Heard one at a local cruise; This lady was looking at my old 34 coupe and she says to her husband. "I like this one because it doesn't have all that extra chrome crap all over it".

I heard it a lot in my students days: scoring 7% above the pass rate and saying, "Damn! I worked 7% too hard!"

From my trade, "AttaBoy"! Remember 1 "Oh Shit"wipes out 10 "Attaboys". From my open wheel racing days, "Hero or Asshole" Hero, when you get away with a high risk bold move in/around traffic, more likely result, trip over fence out of park and everyone thinks, dumb ass, did he really think that move was going to work. "Real Brave", right next door to "Real Stupid". There are Bold drivers and Old drivers, very few Old Bold drivers. "Best seat in the house" view from drivers seat driving a race car no matter what position your're in, 100/1000 times better than the pits or grandstand" advice given to me from an Old Racer ( a very good successful driver, became a mentor)) that survived pre roll bar days. He would mention "Be Patient" it will come, as my effort/enthusiasm was surpassing my talent level/experience in the beginning. LOL Some of my favorites, " How is he still alive, has his head up his ass always " " I think he pulls helmet strap too tight and his brain goes dead" " "Drive it in deeper"usually from an expert (bleacher creature) with a beer in hand. The 3 things needed to win races/championships, a Hero (real good/smart driver) a Rich guy (racing costs $$$) a Smart guy ( crew chief type that actually understands racing ) This last statement is Very True, you can get close with any 2 out of 3, but it takes all 3 to get it done

A quote from my grandfather. "From the neck down is a dollar a day. From the neck up is unlimited." Found this to be accurate.

Don't argue with a fool, idiot, etc. They will drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

Wicarnut reminded me of one I heard in the pits (dirt roundy) not long ago. "He ran out of talent somewhere just past the flagman's stand.." :D

I was at my local drinking hole talking to a fiend, our discussion got around to “ the details and order of stuff”. After some talk he gave an example of the importantance of order. He said there quite a difference in saying “ I spent 4 years at Penn State” and “ I spent 4 years at State Pen”..... I guess he is right! Thought I share that jewel!
