I´m going to make a new tuck'n'roll interior (with help from my gf) for my 48 Chevy coupe here next month. And I´m thinking of doing it in white thick vinyl. I really would like to see what you have in your car, and any ideas or knowhow about how to do this or what materials to use would really be appreciated!! BR Mikael
Uhh just found this page http://www.rogerdstarkey.com/ , its another HAMB member! THere sure is some nice interiors there!!
I have pics of mine, but they're to big to post. Here's one piece of advice for you, DO NOT get all white! It's impossible to keep it clean. Everyone else who has all white interiors has agreed with me. If it's a garage queen, fine. If you plan on driving it, bad idea. If I redo my seats, I'm going to get contrasting colors.
I've never understood this. What is the difference in "pleats" and "tuck & roll"? Why is it called tuck & roll? What do you call the diamond s***ched pattern that was so popular in the 60's - 70's?
Pleats are just tops***ched lines through the bodycloth or vinyl, foam and a backing with the s***ching exposed. With tuck and roll the body cloth or vinyl is folded back from the foam and backing, s***ched, then rolled back over itself hiding the s***ching. Kind of hard to explain with words, I'll try to find photo examples of both.
Ok, I have thought about that with the white seats, my problem is that I might have some problems to find the "contrast" colour, as I dont know if the car shall remain light yellow or I am going to paint it candy red.
That looks awesome!! Is there some kind of pearl in the vinyl? I think I have seen your car in the real life, do you have a picture from the outside?
I did a search inhere before I made this post. But there didnt show any threads up about tuck'n'roll interior, instead I had to search the different threads for pictures. I also did a search in the tech-section, but no "how to make tuck'n'roll interiord." Guess I will have to do that one myself! Can anyone in here recommend some litterature or maybe a webpage about how to do this? 'Mikael
Here's the interior of my roadster not tuck and roll but diamond pleat. Done by the girlfriend (Royal Kustoms paint and interiors) URL=http://img144.imageshack.us/my.php?image=interior28vl.jpg][/URL]
I want to redo mine in the style like FOURLUG or Mike Landwehr's interior. Mines pretty plain jane. You could always contrast it with the color of your dash, or are you painting that to match the exterior? Let's see if this pic will post...
I just bought a machine and im trying to make my own seat covers. I got the bottom done....ill post picts tonight.
Check out the latest Rod & Custom. There is a thing on pleating vs tuck and roll. Kind of simple but I read slow so it was OK.
Here a while back somebody posted about marine grade tuck-n-roll you can order in rolls - might search for that thread. I'm going to be researching that when I'm ready for interior.
