Since no one else answered, I will. You can either put a jumper wire (if there isn't already one) between the points inside the distributor, or run a wire from each coil terminal to the "in" primary terminal on the coil. The first method is preferred as you would have to run two condensers (one for each terminal) if you use the second, though it does look real cool, like a dual coil.

Speaking of condensers, it has to be mounted externally on the distributor as there is no room inside. You should also use a "trash can" style condenser; nothing looks worse than a Mallory "flattop" and "Best" coil with a wimpy looking stock condenser out where it can be seen by God and everybody.

I'm tinkering with an old Mallory flattop #ZC310HP that I hope to use in my roadster and this thread has answered some of my questions nicely. However, the leather pad on the vacuum piston has a nice groove worn in it and I was thinking of replacing it but Bubba's comment above made me pause. Should I repair the pad and use the vacuum set up or should I just leave the piston and spring out and run only the centrifugal advance?
Also, the points and rotor look very familiar, are they carry-over old Ford parts or are they special Mallory parts. Mine are in fine shape but I'd like to know I can get replacements.

Bob, I can see a felt lubricator on the rubbing block so it appears your points are Mallory, you should see a Mallory p/n stamped on the points, it will be 24875. The characters are small , you may need a magnifying gl*** to read them.
New points do pop up on eBay, or at swap meets.

Thanks Fordors. So they don't have an equivalent from any production car? What about that vacuum brake mechanism? Should I just leave it out and see what happens timing-wise?
We could use some tips here on servicing and adjusting the centrifugal advance from someone who has gone there. My gut says, "send it to Bubba" but my budget says, "tinker with it until you get it working" I have quite a few spare parts to play with.
I wasn't trying to hijack RJPs thread but it's the most informative Mallory thread I found by searching and thought it would be good to keep any new Mallory info in this thread.

Echlin (napa) makes replacement contacts for this unit, however a filed set of old points will work just fine....remove the spring and put the piston back in ( for storage i guess) not a problem..
