This is a handful of pix that I took at Lawrence, Kansas on Saturday for the "Knucklebuster's" show. I met a few HAMBer's and a handful of guys wondering about this thing called the "HAMB Drags", so I spread the gospel to the select few. I saw KCTA Chris's coupe alive and man that coupe screams "Sit down, shift, and hold on!". I also saw Warbozz and his dollar table. It was also kinda' funny I would chat with guys while wearing my "HAMB" shirt and they said that they were afraid of this place and they post on the "old school rods" site. Haha. Oh yea, I saw "highboy32's" coupe, Wow. Chris Nelson Kansas
We went for about an hour. The kids started to melt, so we had to head for cool treats. Wish I coulda stayed longer. Last year was a blast, and I'm sure yesterday was just as good or better! I actually met your dad last year - he let the rugrats sit in his Tudor. Here's a couple of cars I was digging - Not totally sure on the make and model, but I really liked this one from Colorado.
Yea, I kinda' dug that roadster til' I saw this shot from the SK500 this past year and then looked at it yesterday and and there was not a single wear mark on the pedal's or floor and the thing that was funny he told future hotrodder that his "cheater slicks" have held up real well and they have been on the car since 99'. Haha.
I don't know about the car being from Colorado but the 2 guys helping to load it are Kansas guys. The next time you're in Mulvane, KS you may want to ask them about it. They are sooo busted!
Heres a couple more pix, mostly the same cars - some different angles. If anyone wants a 1600x1200 copy pm me and I will email it to you.
hey, chris, was good to see ya there. It felt great to Drive the coupe there. I was guilty of mostly just sittin back and enjoying the fact that we actually drove there. We did enjoy the cars and music, just not the sun!
Nice pics Chris, glad to see some of what I was missing while at the swap meet tables. Great to see you there and meet your dad (who bought half the stuff I sold... ). I got a few leads on guys wanting some metal finishing done, and I came back with a pretty good sunburn too. Most people headed out early, so I'd say it was one of the shortest shows I've ever been to. I'm glad I didn't drive a long way to be there or it would have been disappointing, as some who did drive 3 hours or more seemed to think. I'll go again, but probably take the family next year and not sell, so I can see more of the sights and action.
