IMO, this comment is spot on - there are government regulations that will hinder/hamper the effort of collectors of cl***ic cars and hot rods all across the country. To disagree with the truth of this comment's first sentence shows that you have very little understanding of what is taking place in our world today.

There have been many "doomsday prophets" concerning the future of cl***ic cars, etc. Take this article for instance: https://www.motorists.org/blog/will-old-cars-eventually-be-banned/

    and this one...
    https://www.stangtv.com/news/government-is-trying-to-restrict-cl***ic-car-registration/
While this may not apply to HAMB cars, the principle is the same. Granted, there are not many "cl***ic" cars that would appeal to this group, but one day most certainly there would be a good number of models collected over that date range.

And it happens in other places beyond the US as well, take this article from the UK for instance: https://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2...r-but-they-cant-take-it-all-aston-martin-ceo/

At the end of the day the issue is that to bring up any link that politics may have to the cl***ic car industry will polarize people, case in point - chopped top. A very good reason for Ryan's rule on the HAMB forums; politics brings out the worst in people, as will religion (yes, I am the Hot Rod Reverend and an ordained minister of the gospel, don't ask me how I know these things. ;)).
From the post chopped top deleted... "WRONG! If you don't think so, let's have Ryan weigh in on the subject! When somebody specifically points a finger at one administration or another (regardless what it's about), they've exited the car arena and entered the political arena. What you believe or don't believe politically is completely irrelevant here. Ryan has stated over and over again, politics have NO PLACE in his forum, PERIOD! Let's respect that rule, shall we?!" [red text mine]

The shame in all of this is that many of us believe that ON BOTH SIDES OF THE AISLE there have been a number of things that have taken place politically that have affected and continue to affect our hobby here, and if left unchecked will one day render our hobby either too expensive or outlawed altogether. Who knows?

    From this article here: http://articles.latimes.com/2009/aug/13/business/fi-clunkers13
it seems that lobbying the government does work, but let's be honest - if that article is true then we know what affected that change - $ from the aftermarket companies.

Jeff, forgive my lengthy reply but I have seen this come up several times in the past few years either in our own group here or in other forums and most often there is one, or more, in the thread that cries "foul" almost immediately. And that is a shame, I am sure that chopped top had much to offer the group.

This group has so much to offer so if talking about laws that affect an industry or hobby offends him then he is probably better off in a safe place somewhere else. What a ****** crybaby..

I'm sorry to hear that he left the forum. I was actually trying to be non-political by pointing out that the regulations have slowly become more onerous regardless of what political party was in power.

  4. Reproduction parts? I need the gold inserts for my Del Rio and can't seem to find any. I'd wager someone makes them.

This Social Group has been around since I started it in May 2009 he is only #3 in all that time that found cause to be "offended" by comments, several folks posted in this thread as to why the times have changed and the regulations with it. By people sharing their knowledge we become educated about how things work and to me that is a good thing,in many cases silence promotes ignorance. I try to listen and learn so I can p*** it along, I'll have been on this earth 73 years the end of this month and can an old dog learn a few new tricks ? I'd like to think so. ;)

Jeff, you still don't get it. It's gone completely over your head. You weren't 'simply pointing out regulations that affect us and our car hobby' as you put it. We can talk about those all day. You were pointing the finger at a particular administration. Now, I don't care what side of the political fence you or anyone is on, I really don't. I couldn't care less. The point that I've tried and tried to get across to you over the years is that once you point that finger at any particular administration, any particular political figure, you left the car realm and entered into the political realm. This is (was) a car forum, not (until now) a political forum and as I've been reminded, YOUR forum. We all come here to share ideas, tips and tricks, check up on each other cars and progress. I've been more than happy to contribute when I get the time in hopes of helping others that have faced the same hurdles I have. But I refuse, REFUSE to contribute to a political forum thats masked as a car forum. Some of us are retired, some bust our ***es all day long and when we log into this site, most of us would rather not see the political sniveling we get inundated with every place else in our daily lives. That was it. Not too difficult to understand or at least I didn't think it was, but, I've been wrong before.

"Calling someone out to the whole Group is not how I roll." ...Really? Then what was the point of the 'UPDATE:'? To call the troops in for a little bashing? Hypocritical much?

This IS,WAS,And will be a Forum for 1952-59 FORDS and the people that work on and enjoy them. It is a damn shame that people have become so over sensitive that any expression regarding the regulations that affect all of us turns into to ill will instead of meaningful discussions.

i think its obvious to everyone you care. and a bit too much. you are right that this is an automotive forum. if someone says something unrelated to cars and not to your liking, brush it off and move on to the next thread. but dont REFUSE to contribute then compose a short story defending your views about how the forum much less a thread should run. if anyone has made this forum political its you because everybody now has taken a side on the argument since you chimed in and nobody cared before that.

On a positive note I got several new items from Bob Drake for Christmas that I will be installing (thanks to a great wife and kids). I'll post some pictures when they are installed but I got new hood and trunk emblems, bezels and a new hood ornament.
