I need to lower the radiator fan on my 30 Ford roadster in order to lower the radiator to come in line with the cowl top. The engine is a 21stud Ford Flathead with the fan on the generator shaft (quite high up). After searching the forum it seems a later fan mount ***embly with the fan below the generator might do the trick... I could purchase a complete 8BA intake manifold with generator and fan more or less locally and wonder if the generator/fan mount will fit on the 21stud early intake manifold? Or are there better ways to lower the fan on the early flathead?
    Thanks for all tips!

Two solutions for the generator mount.
An 8ba gen & mount can be used if you remove the 1/4" locating pin from the mount. This allows the gen to be pushed rearward to line up the gen pulley with the water pump pulleys. The band clamp will hold the gen without the pin in place. A '42-thru '49 fan will bolt to the gen mount. Then a crank pulley with two sheaves must be installed to drive the fan. A '42- '48 pulley will do this.
Plan B is more simple- use a '42-'48 generator, it has a fan mount & already lines up with the water pumps, add a '42-'49 fan & appropriate lower pulley.
A '49 fan works because it is a wide belt configuration. '50 & later are narrow belt pulleys.
Changing to a late intake gets you nothing.

Thanks a lot for the competent answer!
I will try to follow plan B then and start looking for '42-'48 generator & fan and the corresponding lower pulley...
I ***ume I will have to look for used parts, there are no quality repops available or am I wrong?

I don't think any of these parts are reproduced.
But there are plenty of these parts available, used.
I would suggest that you look at a stock '42-'48 set-up to be sure it will fit your space requirements. An example, lower pulley to cross member. Google may be a help.
