I get my twins out helping as much as I can. I try to keep it fun for them so they like it without turning it into a chore they hate.

  6. Lots of cool pics of the families here .

My daughters grew up with the house bus , learned to drive in my old cars , and the truck . Helped with one of the bus conversions when young , had excellent craft skills ...... now they are married and interested in computers and politics :( .

    Not my fault .

My 3yr old can't wait to get in the garage with me but my willys truck project is a bit rough and it could very quickly get boring. I've recently bought a 40 willys sedan and although it's patina isn't for everyone when you have a 3yr old that wants to climb all over it it's great as I don't have to worry. He also absolutely loves the drags

My daughter is 5 and she likes to help me with the car. Her attention span is only about 10-15 minutes so it’s not slowing me down much and I enjoy our time together in the garage. One of my favorite memories is me and her changing jets in the carb in my 64 Merc.

Like someone said earlier in the thread, the best way to promote the hobby is to get younger people involved. :) I’d make a guess that 95% of car people can name the exact specific person who got them interested in cars for the first time. Be that person to your kids :)

  12. My two year old grandson, steers and drives his own little Hot Rod. He also loves all the cars movies too. A little HOT RODDER for sure!!!! 114.jpg 111.jpg 112.jpg 113.jpg

  13. None of my family growing up cared much for old cars and hot rodding but taught me a lot about working on them and finally realised what I was about. Miss my Dad and Mom everyday. When I was accepted to a 4A Class show in 1980, (and got 3rd place in my class) I didn't bother to invite them because I knew they weren't interested, but to my surprise they showed up with some of their friends and for the first time my Dad pulled me aside and said only "I now understand" that meant the world to me, I was only 20 years old.
