Vintage Oil Change Sticker Thread

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 1937 Fordor, Dec 15, 2012.

  1. I searched the forums all morning for a vintage Oil Change Sticker Thread. No Dice. I'd be happy to post on an established thread if I could find it. Here is my oil change sticker on the door jamb of my 1937 Ford Fordor. Last serviced November 25, 1959, parked soon afterward.

  2. I'd say she is in dire need of an earl change :D :D

Cool stuff right there though, I wouldn't do anything to it except maybe clear coat it to preserve it.

  3. How about a unused Esso sticker? HRP

This Minute Man Service sticker is dated 1948, and my car is 1946, so it's been there awhile. I intentionally masked it off when priming and painting so it would be saved for eternity!

Mines really beat up but there is still one on the door jamb on my 1951 Henry J

Also there's this sticker on the dash. Think it's a tune up sticker but really have no clue.

Found this in a bunch of Texaco books. It appears to be designed for tractors of some sort but has 51 Chevy wrote in. Has " Wirey Service Station" stamped on the back

Here is a vintage oil change sticker from the 1936 Ford 3w Coupe recently saved from Orville's Barn by BigZ in Wisconsin.

I keep a roll of those old paper stickers on hand for one customer who has a 49 Ford truck and does not want one of the plastic windshield stickers.

I came across a whole, unused book of these Penzoil oil change stickers. Judging from the phone number, I'd guess they were late '40's to early '60's vintage........

Ive seen them on cars. I always wonder why there isnt a bunch of stickers over each other. If they were easy to peal off how did they last so long.

If they were reproduced I would start using them,I have too many vehicles to remember when to do the oil changes.

Stuck at work and can't post the one on my '55 but I will. I think it's good enough...hopefully a graphic artist friend can reproduce it and I can rewrite the info on it after restoration. Old cars are my time machine, but it's the fingerprints left on them from decades past that really drives it home.

The one on my '47 is from 1968, and the one on my '33 is from 1969.

The '33 is stuck to the door jamb on the hinge side if the suicide door. Tough spot to get to for the sticker..

  24. Dad had his service work done at El Monte Ford for 40 years. When they leveled the old building to build a new, modern dealership, his buddy, Jonesy, who retired off the lube rack, gave Dad his sticker books. I was looking in Dad's old tool box this afternoon, and found them.

Opened a box from my dads Service station that was dated 1965...found 2 things...one was a receit book labeled Bad Accounts...it had all the names of people that didn't pay him...some of those same people, their kids wont pay today also..it's funny how family traditions go from one generation to another...the other thing is these oil change and service labels...found 3 books of them.

I know this thread is old, but I thought I'd share some of mine from my 1964 Falcon Wagon.

Including the original dealer service record sticker from "Lynch Davidson Ford" in Jacksonville, FL

There is a company www.inspectionsticker.net that has a selection of old oil chance stickers. The bad news is that I read on the AACA site that Bob Hoyt the owner of the company passed away in December. I hope someone picks up the ball and keeps the company alive. Bob had some nice stuff.
