My water temperature gauge isn't working. Probably a dumb question but is the wire going to the temperature sending unit in the bottom of the radiator supposed to be a hot wire? Mine has no juice to it... A long story but 6+ months ago I took the pusher fan off of my radiator. Just now put a puller fan on. The gauge worked when I last drove it (sure of that cuz it was running way to hot). It doesn't work now. When I turn on the key the water temp gauge moves a little (just like all the other gauges) so it should be good. But testing the wire going to the sending unit with a voltmeter shows there's no juice to it... I also moved the radiator forward to make room for the puller fan. I did put rubber between the radiator & frame so is it not grounded? What's going on? Thank You! Bill
Easy enough to check huh? Ground that radiator. I don't know what you are working on other than a clue in your avatar but the cars I own have temp sensors that must be grounded. That is why you shouldn't use Teflon tape on them as it will interfere with the grounding. Hope this helps.
Thank You Bandit Billy! I cut the end off of the wire to the sending unit & checked & it's got juice to it now. The wire pulled away from the connector. Ah ha, I did use Teflon tape so I'll remove it & I'll also ground the radiator... Thanks again! Bill
