I made a website showing how I did mine on a '50 Plymouth. Watch the pics closely, if you need explaining PM, I'll do a translation from Dutch to English!

you use your stock bezels and use fibergl*** to mold them in and glue the lens from inside

    Hey,

I'd think long and hard 'bout ''gluing" in those tail lamp bezels with JB Weld,
Bondo, Kitty hair, Tiger hair, etc.

Unlike stamped sheet metal, those plated cast zinc (Zamac) bezels will,
over time crack as the cast zinc expands and contracts at a rate different
    from stamped sheet metal.

Grind off the chrome plating and through bolt, than solder the zinc bezels to
the steel quarters. Metal to metal is a longer lasting job, than putty to metal
    ever dreamed of.

I used Lee lenses, made the edges around them from 1/4" round tubing, then filled the rest in with sheet metal. All welded solid! Been looking great for over 12 years now....
