I scored some block huggers off of Craigslist so I’m finally able to make the exhaust for my 54’ 210 project. I’m using 3/8” rod to make some mounts that I’ll hang the rubber isolators off of. Made this tool out of s**** after looking at a couple of YouTube videos. Nothing special but it works really fast to bend these up. I did the exhaust on my stepfathers car last year and ended up welding 3 chunks into a Z shape because I couldn’t bend it in the worn out vise I have. Thankfully they’re under the car where I don’t have to look at them. This works much better. Thought it might help someone else. (Mostly just excited to make any sort of progress on it haha) Sent from my iPad using H.A.M.B.
I used some 1” square tube and the pegs are 1/2” round. I center punched the holes for the pegs at 1-1/2 center to center hoping this would help make the bends close together. I think I can make a 180 deg bend with a 1/2” diameter if needed. The square steel is a little light but I’m sure it will last through this project. I bent the 3/8” cold. Hopefully that’s not an issue. Sent from my iPad using H.A.M.B.
Nicely done, I will keep this idea in the back of my head (for my wife) no kidding. She does metal sculpture and is always bending rod to various shapes, this gives extra leverage, darn good idea.
I am borrowing your pics to send to my daughter, she and her boyfriend have developed an interest in blacksmithing and this might be something they can use. Good idea.
