Been looking at a Van Dorn VR500 valve grinder seems to be very early. Anyone know anything about one. Really like to know what it uses for collets and any other info. would be helpful. Would like to buy it to go along with my other antique machines but don't anything about it.
90% sure I picked one of these up recently, but can't be sure until I hit the garage. Might be a different model... I'll look and see. What are you interested in? Collet sizes and such? Or types?
VanDorn was purchased by Black And Decker primarily for the valve grinding equipment. B&D collets stones and accessories will work
I am pretty sure it's pre b&d. But is there stones available and does it use collects. Can not find any thing but this pic on the web.
On one like that you need to know if all the pieces are there and usable and how much wear it has. I used a friend's Black and Decker unit that is probably just newer than that one but it is pretty tired and missing a couple of pieces. For some reason they are almost always missing the attachment to dress the tips of the stems.
Checked mine out this weekend. Definitely not a VR500, so I'm not going to be much help. Any particular reason why you're looking at one quite that old?
