Okay, way o/t but I've yet to come up with good, clear reference on the 3 cannons under the nose of the MiG17.... On the chance that some of you have aviation interests as well as automotive, can anyone help with material on this particular detail? Thanks in advance for any help with this, Johnny
Thanks guys! We are actually doing about 10 airbrushed Monster shirts for the crew of a Mig17 airshow group called the "Iron Eagles"...the late '60's Roth/Newt treatment.....we are hoping to exaggerate the throttle, stick, and cannons.... Thanks again, the clearer ,the better.... J&K

Sorry, I have no pictures to help you, but a I do have a story tha's kinda funny. I work for a flight school at a small airport here in Phoenix. There was a bright red MiG 17 parked in front of our maintanence building for a couple of days. On the morning when the pilot was leaving with the MiG, he fired up the engine and instantly had a complete hydraulic system falure, leaving him with no brakes and no control at all. He shut down the engine allmost immediately but it was too late, the aircraft had allready begun rolling toward our maintanence office and with no way to steer or stop, the pilot was just along for the ride. The MiG ended up running the right side of it's nose along the left rear quarter panel of a brand new Chevy Tahoe, smashing the rear of the Tahoe with the right auxilary fuel tank and pushing the Tahoe into a chain link fence (uh-oh, better get Maaco). This actually was the best, least exspensive place for the MiG to hit, another 30 feet to the west and it would have rolled into a hanger full of very expensive airpalnes. I wish I had some of the pictures to post here.
I thought maybe you needed help shooting one down.........................but,I couldnt help with that either................
The Mig-17 had three cannon, two 23mm on the port side and a single 37mm on the starboard. Cannon were much more effective against bombers. Here's more; http://www.warbirdalley.com/mig17.htm Cheers, Kurt
There's an air show here in Rock county, WI june 10-11 featuring a Mig-17. Is that the guy/group you're making the shirts for?
