iam building a 36 five window coupe ,the rad i got with the car is good not sure if it is 35 or 36 ,no numbers on the tanks ,has the large top tank and looks like a 36 ,except i cut the hood latch holders off that is needed on a 35,iam trying to fit hood and grill and wondering if a 35 and 36 are the same height, and if i can make this rad work

'36 has a big tank radiator, stamped on the tank should be B4 or 68. put a pic of the radiator up, should be obvious which one it is. I don't think a '36 radiator will have the brackets for the hood sides to hook into whereas a '35 radiator will have a 3 or 4 " piece of metal running down each side and a bracket for the hood handles to hook onto/over.

I'll look for some numbers but the 35 had 1952 plates on it when it came out of the barn.

  6. I don't believe it is 35 or 36 it should have radiator cap on left side not center.
    cheers

did you have to drill holes for the hood center support in the rad or did you make a plate to stradle the original 35 holes

The '35 radiator was in the car when I got it. There's no "plate" in evidence. Looks like radiator was made to fit. The hood also lines up perfectly.

Hi tag man its been a while but got my 36 in paint and iam putting it together still have the problem that the hood does not meet the grill all my front sheet metal lines up perfect but the hood seems to rest on the rad stopping from closing the gap at the grill about 2 inches ,when me talked you told me you have a 35 rad in a 36 my rad is also a 35 large tank the only thing i can think is the rad tank sits to high do you have a measurement from top of grill where hood emblem screws to the top of the rad

Sorry, Mogiley, but I don't have the front end sheet metal attached right now. I just got the car back from the upholstery shop and it'll be on its way to my new home in Kentucky tomorrow morning. With settling in at the new house, I don't plan on getting back to it until next Fall.

How is your radiator set up? Is it on the rubber pads on the frame? Is the radiator mounted on the correct set of holes in the frame? How about a picture?
