Hi everyone, just wanted to share my first traditional project: a 1927 Chevy Capitol Truck. I found it in the back of a transmission shop here in town, made an offer and brought it back to my house! I plan to keep it all original, build the cab and bed out of wood and put original bias ply tires back on the wood rims. I want to strip the paint from the spokes and finish them with linseed oil.

I do have a shop manual for it, but need some help or resources on finding some plans or dimensions for the cab and bed. The motor does spin freely and I plan to clean it up and make it a little more period correct with cloth covered spark plug wires, etc. Any other help would be greatly appreciated! First order is cleaning all of the dust off of it! I do have the hood for it, which is in good condition, just not pictured.

    Here are some pictures:

I would ask those questions on the A.A.C.A. site. Not here on a hot rod page.

  3. I love it!
    I'd bring that home too.

    Nice find
I have plans / dimensions for the original factory cab but you need a cowl and front doors from a 1927 2 door sedan.

It's coming along pretty well! Need to post some pictures. I have it almost ready to run. Done a lot of work on the engine like a valve job, lot's of cleaning, new radiator and fresh fluids and have put new ash pieces on for the frame rails. Looking for a cowl if you know anyone that has one. I have line on some cab pieces from another HAMB'r.

Starting to make some more progress! I have re-built the starter, had the head machined and put in new valves, painted a couple things, installed a more "modern" zenith updraft carb, painted the wheels, new tires and installed a newer gas tank as the original was too rusty for repair. It also now has a steering wheel, whole new exhaust system and re-cored radiator

It also runs now! We got it going well enough to put it in gear and found out the transmission is good too! I have all new fluids and grease everywhere. Yes, I am using the correct 600W gear oil in the ******, ha! Seems to backfire a little out of the carburetor at partially opened throttle, but seems to go away higher in the power band. Will this be better once we get the stove pipe hooked onto the carb?

I have no idea mine is still sitting since life got hectic for me the past 3 years. But I plan on taking it apart soon. I'm doing a full restore from the ground up.
