I know it’s been discussed but I’m not having luck finding anything , I’m trying to find pics of 46-48 fords preferably with big and little combos to see what size tires to buy

Most tire sellers have graphs that compare the metric size to inches, so...that's pretty simple.
Now choose a diameter in inches that YOU want for YOUR car, compare that dimension to the metric size...and you've got it.

If you want bias ply tires, it's even easier. Measure what you want, buy that diameter tire.

If it that big a chore, get a piece of cardboard, and cut it to a slightly larger diameter than you think you want, attach it to the hub(s). Trim it to a size YOU like for YOUR car (frt. & rr), go buy that size tire(s).

Thanks for the help , I get what your saying I’m just hoping to see some examples so I can see what I like best and mainly just for the front. I want a smaller front tire but I don’t want it to look too tiny, and preferably bias ply is what I want. I have some g78’s I might use for the rear just trying to nail down a front size

  6. Your rear axle width is going to be a factor in how big of a tire you can run there.
If you run something about 28-29 inches tall in the back and 25 1/2- 26 1/2 inches tall in the front- you’ll be close
    I run a 235/65/17 rear(29 inches) and a 205/60/16 front ( 26 inches tall I think)

Tight on the back- but do not touch in over 40,000 miles

There’s a fairly big thread of 46-8 cars already. Find a car you like there and ask?

Pretty normal to see a 26.5-27 tall tire in front and up to a 30 ish in back but it’s a reall chore to get a tire that tall onto the car. The photo thread pops up to the first page pretty often you’ll find it easy

Its a pain to get the rears off though.

I run 185/65 15 on narrow stude rims in the front with 215/ 70 in the rear. Dropped axle & reverse and removed leafs in the front. Parallel leafs and blocks in the rear. Rides excellent, and I drive interstate with it. 20190106_134013.jpeg

Nope. They are 4.5 with a very shallow offset. I had a fender lip issues because of the drop and disc brakes up front. If I knew how to link you to my build I would. I haven't updated the build in a while, but I did go through the wheel fitment issue on there

Back in the dark ages, right after indoor plumbing and electricity , we used 6.70 x 15 up front and 8.20 x 15 on the rear. I'm sure you can find a modern cross reference to achieve the rubber rake of old.

  19. My old '46, fronts were 185/65R-15's. Unfortunately I don't remember what was on the rear. I sold it to ken05, here on the hamb, and as far as I know he still has it. You might PM him if interested. 18.JPG 24.png

Just a little update I finally nailed down my tire size. 560 on 15x5 front and G78 on 15x7 rears. I think it’s perfect [IMG]
