I live in the Panhandle of Florida and the local NHRA Drag Strip, Emerald Coast Dragway, hosted the Southern Outlaw G***ers / Nostalgia event this past weekend. I took the car up to enter in the show and to slip in a p*** to see what the ole 408 cu in Dual Quad Fitech system would do and although I had a great time, it was very disappointing as the ole C4 let go in the burnout and didn't allow me to get a good p***. I'm happy to share a couple pics of the car on the track. but give me a couple weeks and I'll let you know what it is capable of for ET. Looking forward to the next trip...
Too bad about the transmission. Was it catastrophic or just slipping? If your rebuilding it, I buy most of my transmission parts from Broader Performance in Weatherford, Texas. He has a good selection of upgrade stuff. James
It wasn't catastrophic just slipped pretty bad after the burnout. I bought the ****** used from a friend and it's the only thing not new in the car. I guess I should have gone through it before I put it in, but he had advised that it was in good shape; although, it never has felt great in the car. I have several good friends in the transmission business here in town so I will have it back together very soon. Thx
Let us know when you have time slips. Our drag strips don't open till March up here so I'm glad someone is getting to run.
We got no place to race legally by me. The 2 tracks we had, one shut down decades ago, National Speedway in 1980, Westhampton went in 2004. Atco in NJ is the closest, probably a 70-mile each way trip, over the NYC bridges... not fun.
Yeah where I live a 70 mile trip would be about an hour, but considering the traffic on those bridges your probably looking at a 2 or 3 hour drive. That would take some of the fun out of it for sure.
wow! i never realized all the LEGAL opportunities i had to throw a rod drag racing within 3 hours of home. i guess its just another reason for " Old Neil to put her down"
