I'm putting bags in a MII front end. What would be considered ride height on an airbag? Would it be the height of the bag with no weight and no air? In other words, just sitting on the bench? Just trying to figure out where to set the top of the bag in relation to the top hat.

All bags have a range they are supposed to operate in. It is suggested by the MFG. You should go to the MFG site and ask or see if they have it in the bag specs. Air ride 9000 bags that I have are min 4.5", max 9.5", recommended operating range 6" - 8"

Ride height is just that. How you want it to set most of the time while driving.

I know what ride height is. What I was asking was how an airbag is set-up for ride height. I could make brackets that were 11 inches apart or 3 inches apart and retain the same ride height. I was aking how people gauge what thickness to have their bags at ride height.

They're Slam Specialties bags. I went to their site and they say the bags I have are useable over the entire length of expansion due to the non-ballooning design. They top out at 11" and bottom at 3" so I guess I'll set them at about 7" . I'll have to do some measuring tomorrow as that's just a guess.

if you got slam bags i would set ride height at about 6 to 7 inches the lower they are the better they ride but you dont want to bump them out although they do have internal stops. Awesome bags. Do you have 6200 or 7200s

Heres a link with everything you'll need. It gives all popular bags, and their minimum height, ride height(installed height), and full lift height:

Scroll half way down the page. Hope this helps

I got the RE7's. Comparable in size to the 2600 Firestone. I went out and measured and it looks like 7" will be about right anyway. Unfortunately I have a major transplant to do on this car this weekend.

It has a totally stock MII under it and I have a heidt's C-member and hats that I'm going to install. The bad part is the C-member I have is for a 57 truck and this is a 54 car. My plan allbeit a somewhat risky one is to section the Heidt's C-member I have to fit this frame. I am a very proficient welder and have a TIG at the house so I'm not worried about strength, my only worry is the difference in the thickness' of these two frames (if there is one) If the 57 frame is thicker or thinner, I'm not sure what it will do to the upper arm mounting position. I doubt it will do much because I would think there would have to be a relatively large deficit between the two to change it a lot.

Getting another C-member isn't really an option, I simply am tapped out. The car needs done so I'll measure everything a million times before I get going.

I only read Gleesers initial post and was trying to answer his first question, which didn't mention that they were Slam Specialty bags. Go here for Slam specs:
    http://www.macsspring.com/website/slamspecialties-frame.htm

    Scroll to "download slambag specs"

I am sure others will find the AirRide page helpful as well
