With the snow and salt/ calcium chloride on the roads I’m careful when I drive it in the winter. I usually do it when it’s cold and the roads are dry. Had it out on the 20th for an errand, fun but it’s in the garage now getting the rest of the new glass and regulator parts. Cliff Ramsdell
Take the 53 out every week. +1 on the therapy reason. It makes me happy and transports me back to simpler times.
Yeah, I can’t drive mine from the first snow until the first drenching rain in spring. Walt Outsiders CC
Lots of raised fists to me today. We were below zeroF last week and it was 60F today and that must have made a lot of people happy...and seeing an old hotrod, I guess. 60 tomorrow too, so I will find places to go again.
Awesome, I’d love seeing it rear down the road! Generally it’s the salt that keeps me off the road. I don’t mind the hot/cold/wet I see a ton of older cars on the road year round. @Inked Monkey has a few 50’s cars that he uses daily among others locals
I drive my barge almost every day here, but Wyoming does not use salt on the roads. Sometimes the green dot valve body that is in it right now comes in handy. Sorry Frank, thoughf you meant it was gonna be your birthday.
Mine is far from show condition, and at 67..why save the car...and for whom?...I was actually thinking while driving it today.....''what if some guys find out they have a week to live...would they wish they drove their cars a lot more?" Getting a high raised fist out their window sure does work wonders for spirit...all those times in life when you maybe were told or implied that you "could do better" ...or "you aren't as good as so and so",,,or you aren't worth that pay raise? I must confess that I did get on it a few times today...ooops .
Got the '34 out Sunday for the first time in about three weeks. With no heater it's not much fun to me with cooler than 50 degree temps. With 98k on the coupe, it's not like the car doesn't get driven.
Quick story. Many years ago. My girlfriend and I driving in my 1972 Chevy shortbed stepside, lowered, SB, 4spd. Loud. Leaking heater. Bypassed the heater. NO HEAT! Had to keep a rag and a bottle of alcohol handy to periodically "defrost" some of the windshield so I could see. Hmmm...couldn't see...seems to be a theme with me...lol. Anyway... Donna's cuddled up next to me. We have a blanket over both our legs. It's cold. We're cold. She yells to me over the blaring exhaust... "YOU'RE LUCKY I"M A NICE PERSON!!!" We laughed. Fixed that frkn heater, though. Dang.
I will take my Crosley out in the winter if clear roads and not too cold..Heater works so it will get cozy, defroster mode yeah maybe..vacuum wipers and drivers side sort of works..Go all over hell with a crash box 3 spd; fun and challenge to see how many times I can do clean double clutched shifts..Napa, Big Y, Walmart, Dairy Queen and some cruise nites; no place is safe from the Crosley...Oh and side walks.....
I average about 5K miles a year and try and drive it regularly . I've always thought that no matter how nice they are , they're still just a car . Myself and three buddies went on a three week 4400 mile road trip back to Speedway Museum last summer , what a good time !
I use mine whenever I can for running errands but never in the winter with the salt they put on the roads here Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
no wipers, no heat, all the salt and pre-treat crap they put on the roads flowing around in the rivers of melting snow running across the roads...… but, it is not often we get a 70 degree day in February in my neck of the woods.... i may be tempted to take it out when i get home from work... a favorite shot from the pilot seat form warmer days.... 20180825_062614 by Chappy444 posted Aug 27, 2018 at 8:36 AM and then later that same day.... 20180825_074855 by Chappy444 posted Aug 25, 2018 at 6:50 PM Chappy
Matter of fact me and the Crosley is going out directly, if my stone driveway is not too soupy since it is 64 °!..For couple errands and some fun..
seb - "No place is safe from the Crosley." Cool. Frank - "What if you had a week to live?" I feel ya. Better move my ass...lol. Live it up, fellas. We don't have to kill our cars... But live it up. And thanks for sharing. Great stuff. Helps ward off the winter blues.
Seventy degree days are few and far between in February in this neck of the woods so I am taking advantage of this one while I can.
I with you Ted. I took the the delivery out for a little cruise today also. It was 67 here, as only 8 we had just last week! Ron...... Sent from my SM-G920P using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I certainly don’t drive my rod enough. Battery has a dead cell, plenty of other poor excuses. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Ron, what could you have possibly purchased at McDonalds that was only $0.66? Even a senior small coffee is more than that here!
