Ha! well its 3am and i,er, we are finally done....I want to start out by saying those of you against a club thing, no way do I finish this car in time for the G***er Reunion at Thompson this weekend if it were not for Slick Devils members.....Fellow Hambers Hemirambler, Littleman, and a lurker (Stan) put in some serious OT, Curly helped out too. The best part was how much fun we had doing it. I cant wait to start on one of their cars for a mad thrash.... These pics are now. I will post again after the g***er reunion...for those that did not catch any other threads on this car, yes, its gl*** and new, just looks old. The motor is an AMC. This motor is my test motor. Ultimatly I want to run the orginal Grant Rebel funny car motor. As nostalgic as you can get with an AMC.... Anyway, hope to see some of you there this weekend !
Looks really cool man!! Hey, who's axle did you use? Can you tell me how wide, kingpin to kingpin. Is it on an old Willys frame or did you make one. Thanks
Don, seein' that thing, a few weeks ago, I wasn't sure if it could be done. But determination and plenty of coffee have a strange way of gettin' projects finished. Wish I was there to see, and hear, it run. I'm sure most of Mentor-on-the Lake, has already gotten an earfull of those zoomer pipes. Looking forward to pictures of the whole event. Get some sleep for Chris' sake. JT P.S. Met a fellow AMC freek downhere, the "Ramblur"
Death to Willys g***ers...but I dig the AMC powerplant...I really want to see an AMC flopper in your collection...good luck...
The Thompson event is really cool, been there a couple of times. Glad to see the trash went good, the car is fantastic.
One day over there I looked out of the garage to see a handful of old cars in the driveway while we all thrashed madly inside - THAT my friends IS EXACTLY what Hot Rodding is about to me. Don - who's bringing the "fresh shorts" - you're gonna NEED a set when that baby screams down the track - don't be fooled fellas - that AMC motor ain't no "regular" piece - it's made up from some TOP NOTCH stuff - no doubt it'll raise an eyebrow or two. Don - no need to thanks us instead I'll say "thanks" for letting us be a part of the build FUN............ ya know.... I DO have a dragster to finish.........
That is sweet! Now I want to see a picture of the angry mob of neighbors when you touch off that mill through the zoomies at 3:00 AM! You nailed it with that car, NAILED IT!!!!
Tooo cool! I hope the weather clears up around here- I'm still on the fence about going to the track Saturday or Sunday. I've spent too many hours at that place watching it rain.
Hey everybody, thanks for the kind words! just got back from Grandma's Funeral......strap it down and pack some clothes and food and I am off to the track.....Never had a fast car, so maybe I will **** my pants, but gonna do it with a smile I got an awning on the trailer so even it is does rain, come anyways cause you know the Slick Devils will have a kick *** time! P.S. Littleman also said I get a ride in DeathsdoorStep on Sidley road. Too bad its not at the track next to me, some day soon, stay tuned!!!
That car is awesome! For an all new car it has alot of soul!! I look forward to hearing how your weekend went.
weres the motor shots???i wanna see....if you have a pile of left over parts pm me ..need to finsh my 360 fer da amx....now , pleeze put a motor shot on here..willys gives me the willys.....*****in man...
Well it's 4:45 here and I'm about ready to head to the track. My honey-do list was a little bigger than I remembered but while I was doing yard work the SUN CAME OUT! and started cooking off some of this moisture!!!! I'll try to snap a few shots.
I believe it was Rods West, I can measure it if you like....shoot me a pm. He makes the axle with another tube inside, very strong and very expensive!!
the motor in it right now is my spare motor. I am using if for testing and learning. It is an old bracket motor that has been sitting on the shelf since the late 80's. Jim Smith ran it in a bracket Gremlin. Pretty fast car. 600 lift solid lifter cam, forget the duration but its alot. Accell BEI Dist with MSD box. Wally Booth ported the heads and Jim did alot of custom machine work on the motor.
