Started this project about 2 years ago. Four years ago I wound up buying a Duvall windshield frame that was listed here on the HAMB classifieds. This was after looking at it for several months, as I was already building a glass 5W coupe. So I posted in the wanted section looking a for a Wescott Rdstr body. Within a couple of days a old friend of mine called and told me he had a Brookeville Rdstr body that he had started to build, but decided he wanted to build a truck instead. So I bought the body. The chassis I built for a another friend of mine back in 2011. He never used it so when he came to look at my newly acquired roadster, he offered to sell me the frame at a price to good to pass up. So, here are a couple of pictures taken a couple years ago and will eventually get caught up to date. And all this because of the Duvall windshield for sale here on the HAMB.
-The gentleman I bought the body from had a Model A rear cross-member in the chassis he had. I recently replaced the stock Deuce rear member with an original A, but with a few more modification's.
These pics of the body bolted to the chassis for trial fit ,November, 2016. I was pleasantly surprised to find the doors opened and closed perfectly without having to install a single shim between the body and frame( a far cry from my last two Wescott bodied Rdstr builds ).
Windshield fit the cowl excellent. Unfortunately the cowl vent will have to go, and that will lead to other modifications that will give the Rdstr a better look.
This is the color I have picked out after months of searching for what I wanted. It's non-metallic that looks like Mandarin Maroon in the sunlight (picture 1) and looks more purple in the shade ( picture 2). And once the sun goes down, it almost looks black. My color choice is not etched in stone, but most likely I will stay with this.
I've never been a fan of the gas tank in the stock location. Shortened up the rear frame horns and kicked them up so I could install one of Walden's curved rear spreader bars. Follows the contour of the lower rear panel perfect and tidy's up the rear end nicely .
First part of the ride is going to be quick. First time I started a build thread well after starting the project, so the progress pictures will look like I'm working on it like a madman...lol
never done it, but how about a '33-'34 or a bigger '35-'36 cowlvent, cut in half and turned 180*… the angled edge will better match the cowltop / duval edges... my $0.01 ...
Got rid of the forging lines on the So-Cal front axle and cleaned it up before it goes out to be powder coated.
Running 56 F100 front brakes along with 56 steering box. 34 Ford wishbones with the axle ends reversed to clear the tie rod. Wasn't happy with the look of the bones mounted like this, so later in the build I moved the wishbone mounts inboard about 4 inches. Not only looks cleaner, but also moves the draglink inboard and a tighter turning radius to the left.

No. Just a 9 inch Ford. About three weeks ago, I removed the stock Deuce rear cross member and replaced it with a mint stock Model A. Can always bolt in a quick change later if I decide to do that at some point.
A trick a old timer taught me many years ago for modifying the stock pedal assembly . A little shortening, reverse the shaft, re-assemble, drill one hole and bolts right back on the firewall. Just like Ford made it that way.
So that is the trick. Work some,take pics then upload them altogether and poof !!! major progress. Maybe that can inspire me .
Did you say 16" Firestones on 15" wheels ? Really ? Looks great. I love it. Just clarifying. Who knew ?
Set of 36 wishbones will hold the 9 inch Ford in place. In this picture, the frame is sitting right on the axle tubes. Nothing a little surgery won't take care of later in the build. Need to keep those Firestone 7.50 x 16's on 16 x 41/2" 48 Ford wheels concentric with the rear wheel well.
