Could someone tell me if the only option for axle bearings is the $135 ones from the restoration companies, or are there alternatives out there? Thanks, Glynn.
If you can get the old ones out fairly intact, take 'em to a bearing vendor or the local Napa. Should be able to fix you up for substantially better deal I'd think. In fact, they may still be in the (Napa) books. BTW, Google shows a bunch of hits. But you didn't say exactly what you need...do it.
Napa has them for only $195 then there is Ebay https://www.ebay.com/itm/58-59-60-61-62-63-64-CHEVY-CHEVROLET-REAR-AXLE-WHEEL-BEARING-impala-belair/281118461530?_trkparms=aid=222007&algo=SIM.MBE&ao=2&asc=55991&meid=87e99c18b11c4040b5c25aab6c97c542&pid=100008&rk=1&rkt=6&sd=230995136770&itm=281118461530&_trksid=p2047675.c100008.m2219
rear or front if it is rear axle bearings, there are vendors who sell fair priced good quality units.
