Do the licenseplate.tv one and choose a different state or call them and ask if they can do an old California one if it's for out of the country. They used to do all years of California but stopped because of the rules here, I bet they might still have the press plates.
Sorry about the repost .I must have been researching for my comment when he posted that info.$200.00 is the going rate for a set of matched (restored) plates around my little piece of Washington State. I would think that 200 would be a good price for a custom built plate. Rich B's tech article lines out pretty well what it takes to make a custom stamping. I think you would be hard pressed to find someone to make a custom embossed plate for under $200.00 these days. I have played around with repairing the embossed letters on plates before. It is very time consuming but also something most anyone with basic tools and skills can do if willing to invest the time.
Does anybody know how to check if a pair of original Michigan plates are ok to use. I always thought as long as you have both your all good. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I can recall a previous post years ago here where a guy made personal plates by cutting up the letters and numbers from a variety of old plates and tig’d them together. I bet the finish work would be time consuming. Here’s an example.
In Mo. you go to the state dmv website and put in the number and it tells you right away if it's in use or not.
Old thread and the OP has probably found what he wanted or has given up but this link may take someone who wants "show plates" to where they can have some made for a reasonable price. https://www.etsy.com/listing/571610...MIjYOUzdux4AIVFavsCh2vZQnDEAQYASABEgK4A_D_BwE
If you were in California I would say to call the main DMV office in the state capital. They also have a web site intended for people want to have personalized plates made and want to check the numbers that they propose to use. Your local DMV office might know but I would trust the state capital office more. Charlie Stephens
I wandered swap meets for years looking for 1930 Vt. plates for my avatar. Found a pair of matched originals a little while back. Up here, you can display any plate (or none) on the front. I run a legal vanity plate on the rear, and one of the originals up front.
