Where can I find this patch panel??? 32 question

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Tudor, May 30, 2006.

  1. My rear quarters are missing the lower rear section and back side from the bottom of the trunk lid down. I can find the rear pan no sweat. - I can't seem to find the corners or just the back side of the quarter -

can anyone point me in the right direction? I need both the side and rear of the corner. They both have a pretty elaborate curve in them.

How should I go about fixing this??

I don't think anyone sells a repop patch for this area of a 5w or 3w. There was an article in a mag a year or two ago where Bill Stewart from SoCal used hammerforms to make these patches. I have the mag but would never be able to find it in the shelves of thousands.

I just watched Clark (SoWhat Speed Shop) fabricate that very same panel for ScaryLarry's 32 last week. Ya might wanna beg him for a tech piece- the one he made turned out great.

I think he's locked in the garage this week preparing cars for NSRA Nats East, so if you don't dig up any tech in the mean time I'd PM him next week.

  6. Think it will look bad if I just put a flat piece of diamond plate back there - just bob the rear end??? :D

.... Just mold in a honkin' big pod for a Vega tail light and you'll be good to go.

  9. say that with your thick Georgia accent and it sounds like "paper mashy"

Watch the forward part of the quarter area (between the door and wheel well). A friend of mine just finished a 5w and he went through 3 sets of patch panels from 3 different companies before he found a set with the right reveal shape to them.

  11. I will thanks - I am going to have to heavilly modify that patch any way to get the raduis to meet with the radius on the wheel well. I having to install it slightly higher than stock since I am fixing a channeld car and te body is not exactly in the stock location.

  12. got a few of these for you....

Diamond plate would be cool, if you were building a 4x4....... take some wood, whiddle the shape you need and pound some 22 or thinner gage metal over it. or as dave said, paper mache

I've got a panel for my 30 coupe that I could cut you a smokin deal on. They sure as hell don't fit the A so they might fit a 32 ;-)
