This is my first thread , so be easy on me! Lol Any suggestions on a radiator for a 1929 model A pickup ,frame is from Brookville Roadster? I’m running a 1953 ford flathead with a farm tractor grill? I see a lot on eBay or should I just go with a Walker ? Thanks
Please give us more information about you by filling out your profile page, and a location so that local H.A.M.B.ers might provide ready ***istance. As for radiators, you can't go wrong with a Walker, but you will pay a premium price. If you haven't read the Bishop/Tardel books, go there as soon as possible. Some on here may be dismayed by the tractor radiator shell thing veering into the RR realm, but lots can be forgiven by how well you finish off your vision. Tell us more about the transmission, rear axle, front axle/spindles and stance you have in mind.
There's a very good chance Walker doesn't make one to fit that tractor. I wonder if a radiator made for that tractor could be modified for a flathead? Obviously, one could be built to fit that shell, making any plans for a fan shroud much easier.
Most tractor grilles look too much tractor, but this one looks OK. Sent from my SM-T350 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app

A 1962ish ford pick up truck 6 cylinder radiator will fit in a '28 shell [rad. is a little short]… has a 3" flange on each side that must be trimmed off... it has a trapiziodal top tank, centered cap... SBC porting... needs an extra port [flattie]. rectangular lower tank would also need an extra port... it is a …. Modine # 397.... I got mine for $150.00... buddy gets his for $126.00 … he runs SBC with no problems.... memory says there are 2 core and 3 core …?
Located in NJ! Thanks for all you help and insight I really appreciate, this is my first build, I will fill out my profile page ASAP , not to savvy with all this . I’m learning slowly! I’m running a Ford 1970 and up C-4 trans has 26 spline, with a flat-o matic kit from Gene , really nice guy and very helpful! He said go with 1970 and up because of gears.Just ordered some lake style headers from Sanderson hope I made a good choice. Donna I believe her name was, at Sanderson was also really cool and helpful. I’ll call Jamco and see if they can help , I can also widen the Grill if possible I’ve seen most radiators are about 20 in wide I’m at about 19in wide ,height shouldn’t be a problem! Thanks again
Work the ***le and registration early. Did the frame come with a serial number? Make a friend at the DMV. Charlie Stephens
No ! no number with frame! And Thanks for advice! I have a ***le for the original 1929. I hope that will work!
Call Brookville and find out if they are authorized to put a number on the frame, might make your life easier. The ***le you have for the '29, does it match a number somewhere on the vehicle? Charlie Stephens
Tractorpart.com and Yesterdays tractors etc sell a Ford radiator with twin in and outlets which will cool a flathead. Price is pretty good and I think it is the Dexta one fits in a Model A surround. 170 to 180 bux last time I was there.
Dillon Radiator in Rochester MN will also build a custom aluminum radiator. They make a quality product. But You should be able to find someone in your own back yard to build one. Walt Outsiders CC
I've had a Walker radiator in my stock 29 coupe for almost 30 years and it finally has a seep on the seam, I also had a Walker on my avatar which is a 28 with a flathead, sold it 20 years ago. I have a Br***works radiator on my 30 Sport Coupe with an 8BA that I'm building now. Any copper radiator is going to be expensive, several people I know are running the aluminum ones without problems but they are all fairly new. I would go with a stock shell if it was my car but that is personal opinion. Attached a picture of a 29 that tripped my trigger.
