I have been thinking about buying A street demon carb to put on my high compression 327 and was wondering if anyone is running one.

had a fresh 1965 327 blue printed to the 365 hp Corvette specifications - ran a Edelbrock 1406 - motor never starved for fuel at full throttle

I had one on my 49 International truck with a 290 horse 350 crate motor in it, and also one on my 79 GMC Sierra with the same engine. They run great out of the box, albeit on the fat side. Without internal tuning they aren't good economy carbs, but again perform awesome. Great starting in all temps. Now for the down side. I had both of them fail when the choke would start sticking. Then, while hot, the choke would literally slam shut and stall the engine. You had to pry it open with the a screwdriver. Both after about 3 years of use. I ****canned both of them, went to a QJet on the International and a Edelbrock 1406 on the Sierra.

Interesting, that Holley thread... I put a 625 Demon on my neighbor's Olds...Man, what a difference!
Noticed it BEFORE doing anything else but changing the carburetor: replaced an Edelbrock 1406. Eclipseville. Vrooom!
