Technical 53 Merc Cracked Block?

    I looked at a 53 mercy flathead today and took a few pics, I just was looking at the pics and saw a hole in the motor. Is that a hole in the block or water pump?

    That square hole is the water pump.

    Looks like shadow to me. If there’s a hole there it is a rare spot for a hole.

    Looks like oil/road grime around the draft tube.

    You should remove the water pump and get a better look. Doesn't look like it's in the block to me. But what ever the pump needs to come off.

    That"HOLE" looks like the space between the curve in the draft tube (or whatever that tube is) and the block. Optical illusion. Mitch.

    That is just the space between the road draft tube and the front of the block. No hole.
