Steve is home, still dealing with his tracheotomy though but is able to be up and around. I have personally not talked to him yet. My info is coming from a mutual friend. I'll give it a couple of weeks then I do plan on calling him and catching up. Steve's a GREAT guy and I know we all wish him a speedy recovery.

Also, there is going to be a benefit for Steve on July 22, in Osceola, Wisc. at Oakey Park. It starts at noon and is a potluck. There is going to be a silent auction, a donation bucket and other stuff to help raise some funds for the Hendricksons. As we can all imagine when something like this happens it can dramaticly effect the whole family, emotionally and finanically. If you can help, please stop by and offer your support. More info on this event as the time gets closer.

On a more personal note, I plan on walking in the "Relay for Life" this weekend. It's an American Cancer Society fund raiser. The company I work for, BrightHouse Networks, is a HUGE sponsor. Because this 24 hour walk has always been held on the first weekend of June, I've never attended. I've alway thought the NSRA York show or BilletProof was more important. I've seen the error of my ways and I'm making plans to walk very late on Saturday nite or very early on Sunday monring, this weekend.

I'm walking in honor of Steve Hendrickson, "Just Steve", Mick, "Lurker Mick", and Don, "OF&OF", all of who have been sticken with Cancer lately. I do realize Mick and Don might come as a shock to lots and I do appologize for springing this on you like this.

I haven't spent much time, none actually, making a fancy webpage for donations. I feel like I've been pulled in so many directions lately BUT I know you guys don't need to see fancy graphics to understand how important even a small donation to the cause can help.

I don't ask for much from you guys but I am asking you all to donation something in honor of Steve, Mick, Don and all the other HAMB members that have been stricken with this awful disese.

Please go to this link and donate to the "Relay for Life" fundraiser this weekend.

You'll need to enter my full name Denise Sheldon

I thank you all, in advance, from the bottom of my heart for helping out.

For those of us that just use cash, or a plain old checking account...is there an address to send the funds to?

For those that have asked for an address to send either a cash/check donation for the family or an item for the silent auction, I'm working on that right now. Will get back to you guys.

Thanks so much for all the concern for Steve and his family and the donations to the American Cancer Society that have already arrived. Steve will be very proud of his HAMB family.

Looking forward to seeing all you guys in WI next month.

I have a North of 49 Race Gas Lense that I'd like to ship down for the silent auction. Can anyone provide an address I can aim it at?

Never met Just steve but always did like Rodders Digest.

I have met both OFOF and Lurker Mick.

This is some hard shit to hear about. All 3 are in my prayers.

    Thanks for the update Denise.

I think on the website there's an option to print out a form and mail it in...

Funds sent, and a bttt for a pin.

While I haven't met Steve or the others, we have lost members of the rodding community here from the big C as well. Lunch money today could be a cure tomorrow.

    Pony up boys and girls!

Thanks for letting us help Denise,

No, THANK YOU for taking the time and making the effort to help out this worthy cause.

If anyone has an item to donate for the silent auction at the benifit, ie: swag, car parts, striped panel, CD's or DVD, etc, and you'll be seeing me somewhere over the next 6 weeks, (BilletProof, Indy, HRR, Columbus, Syracuse, or locally) and would like me to transport it to the benifit to save on shipping costs, just let me know or throw it in Big Olds if you see him, with a note attached that it's for the "Just Steve" silent auction. I'll make sure it gets there safe and sound.

Thanks again guys for all the support for Steve, his family and the American Cancer Society! You guys ROCK! xoxoxo

A site for donations for Steve is in process. There should be a couple of sites available by day's end. Stay tuned.

Well Denise, you can add me to your list of cancer patients.
I was given 2 months nine weeks ago.
Stronger now than I was then.
I hope to be back in the polishing and plating shop in another 3 or 4 months.
The most important thing for a cancer patient is the will to live.
That will comes from thinking we count for something.
A little bit of support goes a long, long way.
    Good on you all.
Now where did I leave that damned licence plate?
    I'll find it.

You'll be fine. You make the world a brighter place (literally!), you're not going anywhere!

My sister works at the NJ Cancer Institute. She tells me she has seen so many miracles that she is never surprised anymore. She can recognize a survivor as soon as she meets him or her. The fancy test results mean nothing. It's spirit, will, and love that beats cancer.
