Maybe our gasoline is not so bad here, but I have had good luck with NOS fuel pumps and diaphragms, so long as they are pliable before installing.

Hey everybody so I'm officially living in Louisiana now. Pops was doing good enough to go to cruising the coast in gulfport Mississippi this past weekend. Were lucky enough to have a friend let us borrow his 64 dodge polara 440 4bbl 4 speed for the weekend. Got my job transferred down here. Been alot of inventorying between me and my sister and an occasional "dad what's this fit". Just got done with cam and crank sproket. Did water pumps last week. Sis has been doing vacuum advances and headlight switches. She's having alot more luck on Ebay than me. I have 22 cam and crank sproket everything I've seen is roughly $10 on Ebay. Think thos is something I should sell as a lot. I already researched what all they fit sorry for the bad handwriting 1539159065151~2.jpeg 1539159081079~2.jpeg

  5. Unfortunately, my experience with stuff like that has been most of it is throw it up in the air and shoot at it material. Unless it's an obsolete part no one makes now, the average guy is going to buy a new one from a place that gives him some sort of warranty. And you won't get any more than the chain places do. So if they sell that distributor cap for $5, that's what it's worth.

Now how do you find out which ones are obsolete? Research. Lots of research, sitting at the computer with a box of crap looking up the part numbers one at a time.

So is it worth all the time to look up, make a listing for, pack up and take to the post office for a $5 part? For me it's not. But for every 50 or 100 worthless parts you might hit one that will bring $50 or $100, too.

I did get lucky a couple years ago, a $1 junk box I bought at an auction had some slant-6 rotors that are no longer made and sold them all for $25 or so each. But the box didn't have all that much in it, those rotors and a bunch of wheel cylinder rebuild kits, plus a Reo parking light that was worth stupid money. So I wasn't out a lot of time looking the things up.

On the other hand I bought a file cabinet at another auction with a ton of 50s Auto-lite spark plugs only to find they simply would not ever sell on eBay, unless I wanted to get like a dollar for 10 plugs. So I sold the whole batch at a swap meet for $10 less than I paid for the file cabinet. The only thing that saved me there was a '31 Plymouth radiator cap, another stupid money piece.

I bought a box of old wheel bearings and universals once, too, and found a couple that made me a good profit in it. Those do tend to have value because the older ones are USA made and better quality than what can be had today.

I would expect the wheel cylinders, if useable or rebuildable, will sell, the heater parts, but the tuneup stuff will be mostly of very little value. The Delco NOS parts are going to be hit or miss, but will be worth the time to look up. Generally stuff that's OEM factory has more value than aftermarket.

Looks like some good quality stuff. I'm always looking for certain stuff on that famous auction site, it's fun to look at vintage parts, especially NOS. The key (in my opinion) is to put a fair but realistic price on it. Lots of work to retail all that stuff.

  9. Go over to fordbarn and ask who restores South Wind heaters. That person might buy all of those parts.

  10. #1 - take care of your dad ! On NOS parts - I know from old parts stores that had stuff from the 50's - guess what - those are from makes that just don't sell - the good stuff for like flatheads and Chevy/Ford do sell - most likely from the hord of shelves I just looked at on Friday - it's been pretty well picked over - is what the owner said. There's lots of NOS stuff still sitting on shelves in many towns just waiting to be sold. Just get in there and sell - front end parts are all ways - a winner - distributors another - I saw the Southwind heater stuff - that would be a gold mind as in my 50 or more years of auctions of auto parts - don't think I've seen another. Good luck and take care of your pa....seems like a great guy to have as a mentor !

Going through a similar situation. After 50+ years in the same house, there's quite the "collection" to be gone through. I've researched fair values on a lot of stuff; swap meet bound for me. Sold some goodies here on the classified section as well. Good luck!

Were gonna put 300 on it and the housings for the sale. I know shipping would probably be ridiculous

I have to argue with anyone who says Ebay isn't a good place to sell most of this stuff.
Part number, decent description and honest shipping costs and high quality photos usually get the job done.
One thing to consider is what your dad had tied up in the varius stuff. If a lot of it is stuff he nagged and hauled home from a dealer's parts room or parts house because the rep obsoleted it and pulled it and your dad just loaded it up and hauled it home anything you get is a profit. If it was what was left over from his business that he hauled home and had paid for at one time you need more out of it.

Me and my sister have both been doing Ebay. It's a tedious process when you have 100 headlight switches that take time looking up what they fit. We figured having our own sale would be more efficient. Advertising a month ahead here, fb market place, CL, and local fliers
