This is actually a parts car for the car pictured below so it's going to good use! 53023852_474570536409132_7339317295967109120_n.jpg

Thank you for the advice! I tried to transfer a design today with a pounce wheel and bag with blue chalk. Do you sand the paper before transferring? I was using 180 grit and I could't get the transfer quite right.

Larry is an excellent resource! I can see your point about the gl***. I suppose it was a good first step for me before I could get any car parts to paint. I've got a trunk lid from a Mercury Sable I'm working on. I took the spoiler off to practice on that first. That's a cool magazine!! I think a cl*** would be fun. I read about some being offered in CA. I am not opposed to flying down there for a few days to take a cl***.

I would think so, as an old signpainters kit I bought years ago included a homemade pounce bag that smells like it's loaded with baby powder. I usually have some talc in my kit anyways to use on the palm and heel of my hand, if needed, to keep my hand from dragging if I'm trying to pull longer lines or making larger letters on a bigger flat surface.

You can buy powdered chalk refills ( for snap lines) at most hardware stores .

I’ve heard a lot of comments here on what to practice on....gl***, light bulbs, wine bottles and you even bought a car! Every body shop I have ever seen had a pile of bent fenders, doors, trunk lids etc.
I would think that you could contact a body shop somewhere close to you and “ borrow” damaged car panels, practice on them, bring them back and trade for some more. Since that is what you will be pinstriping the most, probably. Might sweeten the deal by offering a few free pinstripes when you perfect your art.
    Just a thought....

A couple more tips, if you have a cat, feed him fancy feast. The empty cans are perfect for holding thinner. For a good pallet use an old magazine. I have seen some painters drill a hole in the top of a fresh can of paint then take a self threading bolt and place in the hole. Make it big enough so you can get a small stick in to stir your paint... The paint can be poured through the open hole.

Bones the car is actually a parts car for my husband's 51 Cranbrook so it serves a duel purpose! I was finally able to get some parts from a body shop my husband used to work for. We had a freak snow storm here a few weeks back so they have been busy. Ken said they used to pile all of their damaged parts and someone came around once a month to s**** them. He can pull dents out to make them a little easier to paint. I think it's going to be great practice.
