A very rough idea of what the rear of my A is going to look like. '63 New Yorker front bumper soon to be a rear pan. I think it has posibilities. Opinions are welcome, if not always acted on.

  3. I'd rethink that one... Hey you asked:rolleyes:

    G,
I love it, mainly due to it's outside-the-box, and that's what HotRods are all about. I can invision it finished, and I thinks it looks like a great idea.

I would like it if you narrow it I think.

I'll second that, I think it has potential, but is a little too wide.

I like it. I think it would look best the same color as the car though, it wouldn't be AS obvious. Just cool enough to make people do a double take.

Good start for a sixties-style hotrod, just follow the style with wheels, lights, paint, grill and interior and you will have a killer. If you want something else then my answer is no.

Like it, would fit better narrowed. Might look kinda odd chromed, but would fit right in if painted body color, or better yet molded into the rear.

I think if you can pull the ends in so they flare out from the body about the same amount that the back does (did that make any sense?) The maybe.

  13. I'm with the rest. I'd cut the bumper guard holes out trim to flush the body curve then weld it solid and body color.
Maybe even flip it upside down so the protrusion was at the bottom

  14. Just my .02, but by the time you get done modifying it and molding it into the body, will anyone recognize what it started as? And will you have spent more time (bumper metal is compartively hard to work) than just building something from scratch?

Not against the idea, just wondering about the return on investment...

  15. I kinda like it. Hows it look upside down?

Section A is good Section X is out of scale, if you can section it to make it blend in it would work fine. pogo

    I agree.

I never woulda guessed the bumper would look good, but it's kinda cool! Do some work on it and it's gonna be really neat. Chrome it? I'm not sure how that would look, but I think body color it'd be real cool. I'm curious what it'd look like flipped over as well.

I think it's even better if people don't realize what it is, in my book.

The more I look at it the more I wanna see that bumper with the flared part at the bottom...makes it flow better I think

Appreciate the feedback. I was in a hurry when I posted so I didn't go into any detail.

As it sits it is just rough cut with a sawzall and tacked together. I took over a foot out of it so far. Tail lights will be '49 Ford units frenched into the bumper. I agree it needs to be narrowed up a bit more, and yes it will become a part of the body, no plans to rechrome it. As for no one recognizing it after I am done, most people wouldn't recognize a "63 Chrysler bumper stock if it wasn't on the car.

****, that's a damn good idea. I like it. plus, you have some good protection in case some crackhead rear-ends you....i worry about that if I didn't have a bumper on my '33 when I get it on the road...

  25. I think it could turn out pretty cool but are you getting away from your original plans for the car?

Ya see Chris, that is why you should never share your plans with folks. They tend to remeber that ****. lol

Yes, and I am still wrestling with that delima a bit. I am going to keep playing with it and make the final decision down the road.

Thanks again for all the input.

I like it, My initial inprsiion would be to mold it to the body and paint it, but I'm beggining to think that it would be cool just to leave it as an obvious bumper. Either way I like it.

Hey George I think its Kool. I like the idea painting it the same color as the
rest of the body. You'll make guys scrath'n their heads trying to figure out
    what ya did.

    Great idea.

    Happy Trails,

    Mick
