what size tires are you guys running? Im lowered with aerostars and 3" blocks. Im gonna buy some new coker bias plys and want to make sure they wont be too tall
Wheel offset is a main factor with 1952-56 cars that have a shallow rear wheel well the most common size in a bias ply is the 670 X 15 for our Fords this is from the "Sticky" https://www.racingjunk.com/news/2015/03/26/how-to-get-perfect-rear-wheel-and-tire-fitment/ It's common that guys have to disconnect the rear shocks to change a rear tire with the stock wheels, more positive offset will help with that issue such as the 15" steel wheels from mid 1980's to early 1990's Crown Victoria cars.

670-15 will fit fine. I have them on my car with Aerostars and 2" blocks and there is plenty of room. I'm running Firestone Deluxe Champions on my car with zero issues.
I have Coker Bias G78-15s. Aerostar coils up front and 3in blocks in the rear. No issues turning or going over bumps with people in the back. I do have to let the air completely out of the rear tires to take the wheels off of the car though.
Those are close to the old 8.00 or 8.25 width on the old sizing. The rears on my '59 are 235/75 which is close to the old L or 9.15 wide. I have to jack up the rear from the side frame rail, I can usually get the tire off but one side is tighter than the other. When I first put them on with the rear hanging (car up on stands) I had to let the air out of them. This chart should come in handy. https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/45_conversionchart.jsp
I just ordered 2 15x6 wheels for the 8.8 install on the 55. They have a 3-7/8" offset. I plan on running a 670-15 in the new Diamondback Auburn Radial. I hope it works out. We will see.
None at the moment, I had some major issues getting the car to run (previous owner let it sit for 6 years) and my schedule is busy working in the race industry so I've thrown in the towel and taken it to a local guy to sort out my ignition issues and fix some wiring. As soon as shes back home I'll have pics galore!
I think you mean 3 7/8 BACKSPACE. That should give a 3 1/8" frontspace which is the critical area on my car. Previous owner put 255/60x15 on the rear of my '55 and they look great but rub too much. I'm looking for more narrow wheels now to put 215/65 on the rear. The front of my car has Fatman 2" drop spindles and they did rub with 7" wheels. I put Ford 5.5" wheels on it and so far no rubbing. I don't know what front springs are on it, but it is too low in the front for my taste. I would like to get it up an inch or so.
Daves drop spindles and Aerostar Springs - Re(de)arched springs with 2" blocks (9" - 57" wide) 215-55x17 Front , 17-7 w/3.75" b/s 235-55x17 Rear, 17-8 w/4.5 rear (could fit a 245 and probably will) American 200S Wheels - 2 Door Ranch Wagon. un-bolt the shock, drop the Traction Master and jack one side at a time. Sorry stock guys….nice and low - but not slammed.
From our "Sticky FAQ" have any you of used it ? https://www.racingjunk.com/news/2015/03/26/how-to-get-perfect-rear-wheel-and-tire-fitment/
