hello, anyone happen to have a photograph or two of a rolling 35-40 frame with a parallel leaf set up installed - thank you
Should you decide lowering blocks don't work for you try this. Basic 101 fab work and yes you can still run the Stock tank. When it came here it had one of "Those" kits used to mount the springs but to get the right look with 28" tall tire it took a 6" lowering block. Doing this put it back where it was and we Trashed the blocks.
are any of the rear end widths 57 1/4 or 59'' I have both sets of shafts, and some 56.5'' what do you have to use 57 1/4 ??? its going in a pick up with not such a wide tyre . i'll get under with a 59'' axle with 6'' rims and 225 tyres? or use the 57 1/4
olscrounger gave you some real good numbers to work with. To add to that 57 Ford car unit or early Bornco is a perfect fit if you can find one in stock width. The housing in the photos I posted is narrowed to 55.5 to use a specific custom wheel and stay inside the stock fender with 1/2" space to fender lip.
ahh beg your pardon I have just purchase a pair of axle shafts 28 spline small bearing total width 57 and a 1/4 inches wide also a pair 59 inches wide wondered idf there are any pics of a 37 pic up with either of thos width axle in it , and info on tyre and wheel width and offset info.
F.Y.I. Car and Truck use the same rear Axle unit in 1940. So as olscrounger said, 58 1/2" mount to mount inches in a 40 coupe with 7" rim and 235/75/15's and I believe the vehicle he's talking about is the one on his avitar. What he didn't mention is wheel back space. If you have two complete units I would say mount the wheels on both and measure total width then check against inside fender space.
The wheels were centered-same on the black std that just left-same on 39 woody I'm playing with now. My kid's 40 had s 57 For 9" which was 57.5 I think-used a wheel on it with less backspace for a deeper look.
Many of the kits do not center the wheels in the fender opening-usually about 3/4" forward. This is seen alot-must be corrected to look right to me.
S**** Metal 48 can you tell us how wide an Axle flange to flange you used, rim width, tire size, and what year vehicle it is. This will help O.P. answer his needs, Oh and it looks like you have about a 3" lowering block in to get stance. Is that correct?
I'm running a 1974 Maverick V8 8" rear end with 6" wide rims and 235/75x15 tires.. Yes , I had to use 3" blocks to get the stance I wanted.. Have put about 5,000 miles on my 38 so far with no ill effects.. I like my tires tucked well into the fenders both front and rear.... ** clic pic **
That has a good Ground profile S.M.48. Also looks like Tire dia to fender opening is a good match. Are those tires about 28" tall inflated?
... 235 75 R15 = 28.9" 165 75 R15 = 24.7" This was also quoted from the site below... "Generally the tire width will change 2/10" for every 1/2" in rim width when mounted within the rim range." https://tiresize.com/comparison/ This is a real helpful to for those interested...the are many but it has lots of helpful info...
