if it was a while ago, you most likey can skate by with saying no...

I drove all the way from California to the US/Quebec border with a gy who neglected to tell me he had a Duce until we were at the border. He bluffed his way through and told me his DUI was 4-5 years prior.

I would say that with how ****ed up the border patrol is on each side they actually dont even have a way to check since they ask me about 4 times in the same conversation if I have ever had one. " so, are you sure you have never had a felony conviction Mr tattooed scary guy?" :)

    53chieftian;

Here's the deal. MN and Ontario (especially if you enter Ontario through International Falls, Mn) reciprocate in sharing traffic violation info. The Canadian Customs and Immigration will start by asking you if you've had misdemeanors or felonies. Say no! If you answer yes, Canada doesn't diferrentiate between the two. They only have what's called an "indictable offenses". So a misdemeanor to us; is a felony to them. Then you will be ****ed! I got caught in that trap in 1998 and my DUI was in 1993. I've never been back to Canada since and it's gonna remain that way for-****ing-ever!! What Customs claimed I had to do is apply with a check for $250 for permission to enter. I was entering Canada through Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.

And while they're asking you these questions, they can run your license plate number. It is going to be risky. You could barrow somebodies-elses bike and go.

No offense to any of the fine Canadian people, it's the Canadian government I just can't tolerate. The US government has it share of problems too!

    It's a toss up.

They may ask you or may not. They may not even look you up.

The sketchiest I've ever looked going over, I hadn't shaved in a month, was wearing a hoodie with an inverted cross, and was driving my old jalopy he**** with the casket in back. The Canadian customs guy only asked me where I was headed, for how long, and if I planed on having fun partying and drinking.

My car refused to start when he said I could go (Damn hot start issues), and I was just talking with him for another 5 minutes waiting for my car to cool down a bit.

On the other hand, I've also gone over with my p***port and my clean(ish) looking truck, and was patted down, and had my truck ripped apart.

  6. I have the same problem heading south. Once you're in the computor, you're screwed.
They will probably run your plates on the computor. You could put the bike in your friends name. That would be the guy you are travelling with. Then they won't have many questions as to ownership, etc. Just say he lent it to you. And he is there to confirm it.
    Don't admit anything.
Get cleaned up so they don't lean on you.
Go across the border at Detroit, Niagara Falls or Buffalo. These are usually so busy, they won't spend too much time on you.
    Good luck....

I crossed at Detroit into Windsor with my car a couple years ago, and last year at Niagra, but i just walked. there.

Niagara was so freaking busy it didn't look like they had time to pay attention.

When I crossed into Windsor(from Detroit) the Canadian guy was an a-hole. I don't remember them running my plates or license or anything, but they really treat you like a criminal. My friend that lives in Detroit got the same h***le.

I had a way worse time getting back in the US though, cuz I didn't have my p***port with me. They *will* give you a hard time if you don't have a US p***port. Finally they let me in, but not until a supervisor came over, and I already thought I was gonna have to go back to Canada. I was driving around the country and probably looked fairly ****py, and I had a ****load of camping equipment and stuff in the back seat that looked a little funny, for what that's worth.

Having a p***port will save you a lot of h***le. If yo don't have that, have a birth certificate with you.

They'll let in all the terrorists they can, but Americans? Hell no!

Personally I would tell them I was never arrested for anything.

My friend almost had his car impounded cuz he stupidly had a tin inside that had marijuana residue. They got fined like 500 bucks. The dog got them. The guy was dying to seize the vehicle, it only took a few joints or so, but that was years ago.

I went last year to the US and I had the ignition interlock in my van, cdossed at Windsor and the stupid thing beeped for a test, all the lady at the border asked was if that meant I was drinking. It took a few minutes to explain it to her but she let me go.Dont offer any answers if they dont ask the question.

  10. DO NOT CROSS THE BOARDER AT NIAGARA FALLS OR DETROIT.

They are the worst ****ers on the planet to deal with. Lewiston is pretty bad also. I have a clean record, am clean cut and professional looking, and have been h***led every time I cross the boarder at Niagara Falls and Detroit. At detroit I was with my father - a RCMP officer! - and they still h***led us.

Cross at the 1000 Islands Bridge, Cornwall, or BlueWater Bridge. Bluewater and 1000 Islands are the ones I like the best. Not busy, very professional and courteous staff on both sides of the boarder.
